He is doing what he said he would do and they are getting good results. Trump's tariffs raise alarms for Illinois farm industry Quote “Our farmers simply cannot afford the uncertainty of a potential trade war. Farm income has declined for a second straight year,” Brian Duncan, Illinois Farm Bureau president, said in a statement last week. “Uncertainty surrounding tariffs and the potential for retaliation makes it difficult to plan for the future.” Quote Evan Hultine is a sixth-generation farmer near Princeton, in Bureau County, more than two hours west of Chicago. He grows corn, soybeans and seed corn with his parents on a 1,300-acre farm. “Farmers always face a lot of uncertainty. We expect it from the weather, but we really need consistent trade approaches. Consistency is really key,” Hultine said. Farmers can spend decades building up trade partners and agreements that are threatened by tariffs and trade wars. “It’s hard to get new partners to work with you if you have constantly fluctuating trade positions,” he said. Hultine isn’t certain of the exact destination of his crops because he sells to grain merchandisers who distribute to various markets. But he said much of it is exported, such as soybeans to Europe and corn that’s turned into ethanol and ends up in Canada. Rural economies would be hit hard by retaliatory tariffs, Hultine said. “The stress to the whole system is something we’re hoping to avoid.” If they were getting "good results", you wouldn't have orgs like the Illinois Farm Bureau (probably the only bastion of GOP power in an otherwise blue state) speaking out on the record warning against his policies, would we? chasfh Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) 10 hours ago, mtutiger said: You sure about that? In my view, this helps explain how MAGAs literally think of Trump the way they think of God. God is anything you want him to be. People freely point to certain Bible verses to support their point of view and conveniently ignore or eschew others. And conservatives aren’t alone in doing this: liberal Christians freely eschew biblical dictates to murder their unmarried daughters in public for losing their virginity, avoid wearing clothes made of both linen and wool, and pierce their slave’s ear if he demands freedom. So when someone like this fellow says he believes Trump was going take a fine tooth comb and make surgical cuts to make government somewhat more efficient, instead of taking a wrecking ball to it, he is disregarding what Trump himself said on the campaign trail he would do, and what the Project 2025 he was obviously so entwined with said he would do, and choosing instead to believe what the fantasy Trump in his head would do, simply because that what this voter himself would have done. Now multiply that times millions of MAGAs who are about to have the leopard they voted for eat their faces. It’s this kind of thinking that has led Trump to believe he really is our god. No wonder he’s acting like it. Edited February 21 by chasfh Quote

It's the far left liberals like yourself that claim the sky is falling because that is what your political party including mainstream media want you to think. The US political system was full of corruption and waste and needed big changes. It's refreshing to see it happening. This is also a really good example of how meaningless the names MAGA use to disparage their stated enemies really are. As if ewsieg were any kind of liberal at all. The labels are not used as descriptors of any sort, but are leveled only to delight and/or horrify fellow red hats about the person in question. the best example in my view is when they earnestly refer to Democrats as "Marxists", which is asinine on its face and serves only to highlight how ignorant red hats are about what the goal of Marxism is. 1 Quote
