.... Once again, with Sorsdal in, the team had a hard time maintaining LOS. But when that starting five OL was all together it was a thing of beauty.

So I think a secondary, but very important need this offseason, after the "D", is to address O-Line depth.

Jonah Jackson needs to be signed, IMO.

I like Glasgow, anywhere... But there's no depth if one of our interior guys goes down.

Sorsdal is obviously not an answer, at least not yet...

And Ragnow is having more difficulties with his toe and his overall health so...

IMO: I think it is critical to sign Jackson to a long term contract, and find an answer for depth at C/OG to go behind Ragnow/ Glasgow/ Jackson. Also, related: Do we search for a longer term option for "after-Decker", or not yet?

Am I the only one who didn't like his backflip into the end zone?

That wasn't a backflip...

It was an Aerial Launch.

I was worried only about how hard it would be coming back down to Earth after hitting apogee.

He wasn't landing in the Atlantic, it was a ground landing. I did worry about that potential landing...

Thank God he doesn't have Charles Rogers collarbones!

You mean like Anthony Lynn?

You mean the guy Campbell hired before he even knew Goff would be his QB? Yeah, Campbell yeeted that guy the moment it was clear he wasn't the right fit. It's almost as if he learned from his experience, unless you believe that promoting Johnson was just pure luck on Campbell's part, in which case, I'd expect you to be advocating for a new head coach.

I didn't like it either because he could have hurt himself.

On a related note, I have no idea why they aren't getting the ball in his hands more not even in conventional routes necessarily but on screen plays, sweeps etc. He makes good things happen just about every time he gets the ball, the few times he does.

I'm now advocating for a new head coach?

I can venture a guess.

Lions' Ragnow carted to locker room after suffering knee injury against Saints

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2023/12/03/lions-ragnow-carted-to-locker-room-after-suffering-knee-injury-against-saints/71792917007/

“Following the game, Lions coach Dan Campbell said the locker-room evaluation provided some optimism, but the team won't know more until Monday, after Ragnow undergoes an MRI in Detroit. At first, coming off, it was sounding like one thing, and then, after the fact, it sounded like something maybe a little bit different," Campbell said. "One, not as good, (the latter) one sounds more positive. I won't know until tomorrow."

I'm not concerned about Goff. He's like that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry says he always comes out even and Elaine throws his $20 bill out the window and he finds another $20 bill in his pocket. He always ends up on winning teams, with the best offenses, with the best coaches, and the best players. It's uncanny. How fortunate was he to end up on the Lions known historically for their winning and coaching? Then to be paired with Ben Johnson who was a TE coach nobody ever heard of and was hired by Patricia? Ben Johnson has never called a play in an NFL regular season without Goff as his QB. Goff is always at the right place at the right time.

One of my bigger concerns for next season: the Lions lose Johnson, but keep Glenn. What will Goff look like without an offensive coordinator who knows how to cover his flaws? Next year's schedule will be tougher as well.

So, I haven't read the whole thread yet, so forgive me if someone else already pointed this minor detail out... but: Holy crap but our defense is bad.

Meh, the Saints only scored 7 points in the 1st half. They had an INT, and multiple punts. In the 2nd half the Saints converted multiple 3rd and really long plays. Then they had a tipped pass that Jacobs was going to intercept for a TD but instead ended up being caught by the goal line. The defense was better. Not great but good enough.

Bruce Irvin played 11 snaps and still recorded a TFL, a sack, and a QB hit. Crazy what can happen when the defensive line basically puts three guys on Hutch and two guys on McNeill.

Charles Harris and the Okwaras are just bad at getting to the quarterback. Win a one-on-one one time!!

And that penalty for the QB hit was BS. I hate how much they are protecting the QB these days. It's not that I want to see QBs (or any player) hurt, but defense are so hamstrung in terms of how they can touch QBs that it makes it hard to actually play.

By letter of the law, it was absolutely the correct call, and like I said during the game - I would be pissed if I was a Saints fan and had to watch Jameis Winston throw the football because my QB got knocked out of the game because of that hit.

I don't think it's that hard to ask him to just toss Carr to the side instead of landing directly on him like that. Maybe I shouldn't comment on the difficulty of the position, but at least it seems like most other edge rushers are able to do so successfully.
