lordstanley Posted February 1, 2024 Author Posted February 1, 2024 Remarkable what decent goaltending, like that from Lyon, gets you in the standings. Quote
buddha Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 is giving up a 3rd rounder for husso a "loss" on the yzerscorecard? maybe a tie. Quote
buddha Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 from pierre: "But I think Tanev gets dealt in the end. (Vancouver, by the way, tried hard to have him included in the Lindholm trade, but the price point was too high.) There are just too many teams with interest. The general price tag right now from Calgary is a second-round pick plus another asset, according to league sources. If a team would be willing to jump up to a first-round pick, they’d probably get Tanev now." do you give up a second and beeggren for tanev? if the leafs offer a first do you beat it? if hanifin costs you edvinsson or asp and a first (plus the $7m it costs to resign him) do you do it? i dont do either. still have to pay seider and raymond. edvinsson could be hanifin in a couple years. a second for tanev might be doable but someone will beat it. Not at all. 3rd rounders are mostly junk. Look at the 2018 draft, 6 years out and only 5 of 32 picks have played more than 25 NHL games. Only 2 of 32 picks have more than 6 career NHL goals. It seems like NBA picks need to be in the top 10 of the 1st round, NHL picks have value into the first half of the 2nd round, NFL is good for all 7 rounds, and MLB is all over the place. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2018e.html 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Agree with LS, plus Husso gave them some good starts it wasn't like he was a total disaster over his entire tenure. I still think it was a worthy gamble. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 8 days off. This is terrible. They could at least have waited to take an 8 day break until pitchers and catchers reported to ST. Quote

lordstanley Posted February 2, 2024 Author Posted February 2, 2024 Wouldn't it be something if the Wings were to not only make the playoffs but also edge out Tampa or Toronto for the 1st wildcard spot. That would put the Wings onto the Metro side of the playoff bracket. There are no scary teams in that division this year. The WIngs would be 3rd in the Metro right now, 5 points behind 1st place NYR and 3 points behind 2nd place Carolina. Quote
lordstanley Posted February 5, 2024 Author Posted February 5, 2024 No Wings game until Saturday?! C'mon, what a momentum killer. 2 week gap between NFL games, March Madness a month away, no spring training for baseball quite yet. This would have been a great week to fill the void with a bunch of NHL games. 1 1 Quote
