I haven't seen any player sign yet that I would say I really wish the Lions signed that player to that contract.

Same here. Still lots of big names out there, that I don't think Holmes will sign, but they're out there still.

It does seem like if he does go big, it'll be at CB and the market is still flush with them.

At the Lions-Bucs playoff game, Carlton Davis’ mother and family sat two rows in front of me.

When he was called for a penalty late in the game, my (dumbass) friend yelled out “WHAT HAPPENED DAVIS” and his mother turned around and said “Some BULL**** that’s what!”

Channeled my inner Nostradamus with this one. Carlton Davis was really good a few years ago, not sure how you fared last year but this is Brad's big swing.

Looking at the numbers for him and Sutton, they seem like similar players. A PFF grade of 58 with 52 tackles and 2 INTs on 79 targets for Davis. A 56 PFF grade, with 65 tackles and 1 INT on 89 targets for Sutton.

Davis isn't a stud or anything but I think he's definitely better than what we had last year, I'd still like to get somebody like Gilmore on a 1 year deal too along with drafting a guy early. I think if that were to happen then Gilmore, Davis, draft pick along with hopefully a healthy and somewhat productive Mosely would be a huge upgrade over what we were working with last year.

That comp was more than what I was expecting. Have to say, I don't find this move very exciting.

I agree. I know they’re getting return picks, but I was hoping we wouldn’t give up a pick before day three.

That's more than I was expecting, was hoping/thinking it was basically a salary dump by TB and we were going to get him for like a 5th.

It essentially amounted to about a 4th with the two 6ths in return. Not so bad IMO, this is more of a win now mode and they still have 3 picks in the first 3 rounds.

Also, it was the Lions 3rd not the Vikings one so a lot closer to a 4th.

Is Davis a big upgrade over Sutton? On paper he doesn't seem to be. Bot not having watched a ton of Bucs games, I don't if he passes the eyeball test of being markedly better than Sutton and taking on the CB1 responsibilities of covering the opposing teams WR1.

Why do you keep comparing him to Sutton? Sutton isn't going anywhere. He's replacing Jerry Jacobs and Kindle Vildor. He is an upgrade over those two.

Im not sure if he is or not but as much as I would love to have a bonafide stud I don't think it's necessarily a must, I just want to avoid running out 1 or 2 complete duds like we did last year. If we can get a rotation of competent guys I think we will be alright.

Exactly right, he's replacing the fringe guys. He might not be a true 1 but they have two quality corners now instead of one quality guy and a replacement level guy. Moseley is the insurance, when he's ready to play.

Personally, I would have preferred signing a guy like Fuller who is probably on Davis's level and not giving up the draft compensation but maybe that wasn't in the cards for Holmes.

They wanted Witherspoon in the draft last year. I expect they’ll still be in the market for a corner this draft. I expect they are out on Sneed but maybe not out on corner altogether. Having a CB1 rookie in the shadows waiting wouldn’t be too bad.

Because we need a corner capable of covering a team's WR1 and Sutton got burnt in several games last year covering other teams WR1.

I'm kind of shocked only a 2nd and a 5th even though he's only on the franchise tag. Carolina really mishandled this one.

The Giants may not have much else but they should have a dominant pass rush, just another guy to help Thibs get a bunch of clean up sacks.
