Mr.TaterSalad Posted March 12, 2024 Author Posted March 12, 2024 A.J. Epenesa has resigned with the Bills and Kenny More II resigned with the Colts. Two guys I thought we could have brought in. 1 Quote
NYLion Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 (edited) The Lions might not have a true #1 corner but they have lots of depth now. Still need a long term solution so I think it should still be near the top of the needs list at the draft. Now I'd like to see them sign an edge or Reader as has been rumored that they were in on him. Need a #3 WR too and a LG but that will likely be saved for the draft. buddha Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 if cominskey's agent thought he would get more on the market, he would have declined. he wasnt all that good last year. not as good as he was the year before. 1 Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted March 12, 2024 Author Posted March 12, 2024 This one stings, not going to lie. I knew deep down in my Honolulu blue heart we wouldn't land an A-tier, marquee free agent. But man, I really wanted us to be in on Hunter and I had some small but fading sense of hope that we would land a dynamic pass rusher like Hunter. Lining up a guy with 16 sacks across Aiden sure would have been nice. Just continue to trust the Brad Holmes plan! 2 Quote
Hongbit Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 That’s a really nice contract for the Texans to get Hunter. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 Lions could end up with a comp pick because of this signing. 1 Quote

Hongbit Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 I’d like the Lions to see if they can take a one season flyer on Joey Bosa. He’s due $17M and has a $7M bonus that I’m sure the Chargers would prefer to eat instead of the salary. I can’t imagine it would take more than a 6th as he’s probably getting cut post June 1st. He can be a beast if healthy and the risk is minor if he gets hurt early. Quote

Holmes is not going to sign top of the market free agents to multi-year deals, get used to it. It's worked so far. 1 Quote

He’s got a $7M restructure bonus that is part of the contract and I don’t know if that would go with him in a trade or if the Chargers are on the hook for it. That may not even be an issue as he’s got another $7M roster bonus due on Friday. Ideally neither the Chargers or the Lions would want to pay that. It’s possible that he could end up just getting cut this week. Edited March 12, 2024 by Hongbit Quote

If you phrase it that way, of course not. But if you phrase it this way it's a good thing: "It's the NFL and players get cut all the time and I'm sorry but you're on the chopping block. But, if you want to, we can keep you as long as you accept a pay cut. The choice is entirely yours." Quote
