MichiganCardinal Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 If Ben Johnson didn't run the ball on 2nd down so much, this never would have happened. 1 Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Enough. We got to keep this thread clear for all those Lions signings. Quote

I'm not talking about major players, I'm talking about depth players. You can't pay fringe players like top line starters. The Packers asked Aaron Jones to take pay cuts two years in a row. Why hasn't the NFLPA stepped in yet? Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 He saw the 49ers try to get players to renegotiate and changed his mind. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Reports had the Lions connected to Rankins. This probably also means the Bengals are out on Reader. 1 Quote
NYLion Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Yeah, I'm thinking Reader to the Lions is likely now as long as he passes the medicals. At least I sincerely hope because he's a game changer for this defense. Quote
Tenacious D Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Any thoughts on a veteran backup QB? Will we ride with Hooker as the #2? Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Hooker is and should be the backup. The only veteran would be to bring Sudfeld back as a practice squad guy. Sudfeld is familiar with the system and could be valuable in the QB room to break down film. That's why they always wanted to keep Blough around. 1 Quote

Any veteran backup will be vying for the #3 spot. Rumor was the Lions were interested in getting Sudfeld back.. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Your #3 should be the best clipboard holder in the building and if that’s what they see in Sudfeld I have no complaints. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I wonder if these are new contracts that replace their current contracts? I believe they both signed 6 year contracts. I'm wondering if they renegotiated *ducks* the last three years of their deals? Quote

They originally signed six year contacts in 2021, and this is only adding a year, through 2027. So it's likely more of a raise than it is a one-year extension for four years from now. Is this the first Lions coach to get a second contract since Wayne Fontes? 1 Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Looks like they reworked the last three years and added an extra year. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Seven coaches were hired in 2021. Three still remain and Campbell is probably the safest. Saleh is hanging on by a thread and Sirianni has the seat warmers on. Quote

Last year he bowed to the will of a 39yo prima donna QB who would have rather been hosting Jeopardy... Now he gets to reap the consequences with a 40yo Sandy Hook denying QB who would rather be Vice President, fresh off an Achilles tear. 2 Quote

Especially with how there were rumors about he wanted to control narratives from leaking out and confiscating players phones. I don't blame him for bending the knee for Rodgers. That seems to be from the top down. Ownership made that decision and Saleh was set up to fail. Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 It's calling them extensions... not renegotiations. Quote
