The guys that just miss the cut (just miss the 53-man roster)... Those will be guys that would most likely be lost. Still, another team has to waive a guy on THEIR 53 in order to grab a new guy on a waiver claim. It just limits the amount of actual waiver claims that realistically will be made. For the Lions, if it's a critical player they don't want to lose: Don't waive them. Period. Waiving Sudfeld? Not a problem. Trying to waive someone like Manu, who is still terribly raw, but other teams can see his athleticism and potential: he would be claimed. DPJ was given a golden ticket to make this roster, showed up out of shape and failed conditioning, and then couldn't outcompete the 2s and 3s of the Giants, Bengals, and Steelers. Bye.
