djhutch
I was really hoping to baby the Ariens I got 4 years ago on FB Marketplace and make it thru this winter, but this morning the handle literally fell off in my hands - & there's really not enough metal there to try to weld it on. Wondering what you guys & gals use - and is there one in particular you would say run away from? What about electric vs gas? Anybody try the eco-friendly stuff yet? Biff Mayhem
I have had my Ariens that I bought used at least 13 years ago. It keeps right on ticking.
Deleterious
I realize not everyone is ready to jump to electric. But my buddy swears by his EGO snow blower. But if yours still runs well I would try to find a replacement handle or take it to a welding/fabrication shop and repair it. But I am very cheap. Tiger337
I have had my Ariens for about 10 years. It still works great.

I left my Toro Power Clear at the end of my driveway until someone finally took it, if that tells you anything about how I felt about it. djhutch
There's a local Ariens dealer that can order the lower arms I need. Shouldn't be much to switch those out - & the engine still runs well. Thanks for the input everybody!
oblong
I got my new blower in Dec 2021, when a huge storm was coming and my wife saw a news story about a 50 year old having a heart attack shoveling. So I got the last one at Lowe's. I've used it 4 times and two of those times was just to use it, the snow wasn't heavy or deep. Not once this year. When it did snow for that week here it was followed quickly by an ice storm so I go ahead of it and got the 2 inches or whatever out of the way. After that the ice was too lumpy. I want my $1000 back! I could have went to one of the Lions playoff games for that.

Keep in mind it's still Michigan and there is probably a decent chance of snow on opening day
oblong
It’s going going to drop about 50 degrees in 30 hours.

Shades of Deivi Cruz
While killing time waiting for Tigers playoff baseball to start (could be working, I guess...), I was thinking about this. I will not get another gas powered snow blower, but I am very intrigued by the battery powered two-stage ones. At $2k though, it feels steep, but I also know how much I hate shoveling snow. Motor City Sonics
Based on the last couple of winters, I would just not even spend the money. If we do get a couple of big snows - pay a kid to do it - you'll slave money. I haven't even attempted to start mine in over 2 years. I have a service and they get a retainer fee per month on top of the plowing charge. They've make out like bandits the last couple of years so I'm waiting for LaNina puts them to work this season!.
