But I agree with you, that pitcher hadn't pitched in a month. Oops didn't catch the part about the runners moving up due to that catch. In that case it makes more sense. Great baseball for fans. If only Vin Scully had been here to call Freddie's shot He ambushed that relief pitcher. How exciting....
RandyMarsh
First time Cortes has pitched in over a month, poor guy talk about getting thrown straight into the fire.

I don't know the Yankees that well but I'm not sure why he used a starting pitcher who hadn't pitched in 30+ days. Yankees blew it.

Cortes does not have the type of command to paint the corners so Freeman knew he was gonna be getting something good. Wow great post
chasfh
How great is it that Derek Jeter has to sit on a panel while Dave Roberts, the guy with the steal that sparked the Red Sox comeback against the Yankees in 2004, talked about beating his Yankees in the World Series Game 1 this year? Couldn’t be better. And he had not a single word to say. Edited October 26 by chasfh

Mets beat the Astros in something like an 18 inning marathon in the NLCS. Then the World Series with Buckner and all that

guy incognito
I listened to the ESPN Radio broadcast of the game. I can't find a clip of his call of the Freeman slam anywhere, but I fully expect Jon Sciambi to be hoarse for tomorrow night's game. That was the first walk-off grand slam in a WS game ever, by the way.
guy incognito
Here's the Dodgers radio call. If you listen to the end you can hear a simultaneous nod to Vin Scully and Fernando Valenzuela.

guy incognito
I can still remember watching that Gibby HR in my parents’ bedroom with my dad, my brother, and my brother’s friend who was staying with us for the evening. Us three boys were going nuts, and Dad (who hadn’t forgiven him for not re-signing with Detroit) just shook his head and said “Gibson” in flat disgust.

IdahoBert
This 4-1 Dodgers lead halfway through the sixth is starting to look real, but I would never count out a New York Yankees team in this situation. I do find myself pulling for LA simply because I have a lot of resentment built up with the Yankees over the years which does not exist with the Dodgers. I also have a lot of friends who are Dodgers fans here in Idaho who, even though of Mexican ancestry, have forgiven the team for the way people were forced out of Chavez Ravine to make room for that stadium. But they have indeed had to think about it.
