lordstanley
Tying run at the plate in the top of the 9th. 4-2 Dodgers, Yankee on 1st with 1 out.

IdahoBert
This is actually pretty exciting. I still don’t have much skin in this game so whatever happens is fine, although 51% of me is pulling for the Dodgers.

IdahoBert
You know nothing can ever compare to the strange psychological and emotional cocktail that was flowing through my veins for our last 50 games of the season. I thought the end of this game was interesting, but I never felt my head was going to explode or rainbows would start shooting out of my rear end to propel me into orbit around the Earth like when the Tigers were rampaging this year.
Sports_Freak
Whew...I was getting Todd Jones flashbacks. I hope Ohtani is gonna be OK, it's his pitching arm.

I think I saw you on a clear September night, from my back porch in Minneapolis, shooting up amidst the Northern Lights. Or perhaps someone laced my cigar with a psychedelic 1

Tell you what, though—for an October where not only do I no longer have any skin in he game, but the teams that are left are two behemoths which is like rooting for Goliath vs. Goliath—this has been a hell of a playoff season.

Great baseball for fans. If only Vin Scully had been here to call Freddie's shot Wasn’t this widely considered to be a pretty open playoff field with no real obvious favorites? I think the lack of any 100 win teams probably had something to do with that (on top of the fact that it’s baseball and chalk doesn’t always apply). And here we are, 1 seed vs 1 seed.

I’ve long maintained that in many ways it’s easier to enjoy a really great game/series for what it is if you don’t have a rooting interest. You can savor the dramatic twists and turns without being wrapped up in the outcome. When the Tigers are involved, my preference will always be for a nice, boring blowout in favor of the good guys. Which I have to admit doesn’t make for very good sports theater. Edited Sunday at 07:36 PM by guy incognito

IdahoBert
The Dodgers did very well by obtaining Freddie Freeman. Wow. He knows how this baseball game thingy works.

IdahoBert
I’m listening to the Dodgers radio broadcast and maybe they’re jaded about all of this, but it’s about as interesting as a description of grass growing. I’m just used to Dan creating a sense of atmosphere so I guess I’m spoiled.

This game has been something of a dud though.
lordstanley
4-2. Two outs in the 9th. If Torres can get on, Soto will be up. If he gets on too, then Judge would be as winning run at the plate.

IdahoBert
People for whom the World Series is the only baseball they watch in a year are innocently shocked by the inaccuracy of the home plate umpire strike zones. Seeing them talk about it on social media is so cute. It’s almost adorable.
chasfh
The Yankees looked as bad as the pre-August Tigers would whenever they got shut out.
