OK, I see that he won 4.3% of his bets.  That's still pretty bad

There is no question in my mind these are factual comments. 
MLB could not be so stupid as to not know this is where this would end up.

Along with Marcano, 4 other current players with MLB experience were given 1 year suspensions. All 4 are detailed in the above article, did not bet on their current teams, and placed low wagers. It should also be pointed out all lost badly. 

I think this will become just as big of a headache for MLB as PEDs were 20 years ago. Not many people are going to Blink an eye at the above 5 players, not many have heard of them. But the mud will hit the fan when the first star is caught. 

I'm sure many players are having cousin eddy place bets on their behalf, and that could be be a bigger mess. 

It would not surprise me to see Duece behind all of this.

I think it was inevitable this would start happening.  It was incredibly stupid and hypocritical for baseball to get involved with gambling organizations.  As long as they make a profit, I guess it's cool though.

I am left with the impression that you didn't understand my comments.  A player saying someone threatened them doesn't mean it actually happened.

It was documented to one guy.  When the Lions got beat by the saints a guy from Detroit called up the superdome and threatened to blow up the stadium.  That doesn't mean threatening to blow up stadiums was widespread.

The majority of gamblers can place a bet now and then and it doesn't affect their lives in a negative way.  However, a not insignificant percentage of gamblers are addicts.  They start losing money and they can't stop and it gets out of control.  They become desperate and angry and it should be no surprise that they would start lashing out at the people they perceive as causing them to lose money.

There are a certain number of psychopaths on the planet.  Some of them gamble, some of them do other stuff.

A guy shot Ronald reagan to impress Jodi Foster....there are always going to be people that are crazy.

No.  Those examples refer to more than one person. 

There was also a case from the NCAA basketball tournament of a plyer receiving death threats because of what he did in relation to the spread.  Are you naive enough to think that those are the only examples that exist?  

I'm not sure what Jodie Foster has to do with this.  MLB is increasing the risk of player safety and well being along with the integrity of the game by getting in bed with gambling companies.  

The use of the term "drama queen" because players fear for their safety along with their families is incredibly rude and inconsiderate.

Please, if there are major league players reading this.  I am truly sorry I called you drama queens because I suspect most of these threats are made up or embellished.  No one ever lies about anything that has ever happened to them.  It was incredibly rude and inconsiderate.

The question is whether harrassment and threats to players has increased since the promotion of gambling in sports.

I don't believe that someone followed a player home after a game to threaten him.  Beforehand, that guy would need to know where the players park, what type of vehicle the particular player drives, and be able recognize that player out of uniform.  That's a tough sell for me.  The guy just followed him?  .I would assume these players probably have garages that they drive in.  How did the perpetrator get to talk to this player?  Yet, the player somehow got threatened by this person and then didn't bother to call the police or beat the hell out of the guy?  

That's a tough scenario to believe.
