theroundsquare Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Corbin Burnes used to wear glasses Quote

Off the top of my head can think of a bunch of relievers like Tekulve, Henke, Eric Gagne, Valverde. Two Tigers starters who wore were Denny McLain often and Nate Robertson, but no no-nos. Quote
theroundsquare Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 It came to mind because Burnes was part of a combined no-hitter. The other pitcher involved was Josh Hader, who also donned the specs 1 Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Apparently Astros aren’t gonna go beyond 6 years for Bergman. Personally I don’t want him, but I thought he’d for sure sign back with them Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 I’m sincerely trying to watch this World Series, but I just have no skin in this game. I might as well be watching an HGTV program featuring a preppy Instagram couple who’re trying to remodel their guest bathroom for under $200,000. I just can’t care about the outcome. In this World Series there are big, big, stars and lots of history, but it’s still isn’t the bolivian marching powder I got used to scoring in our own hood just this last season. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Flaherty's price tag goes up with every inning he shuts the Yankees out. 😆 1 Quote
chasfh Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 (edited) Man, we sure could have used this Flaherty in the playoffs. EDIT: lol, and not 30 seconds later … Edited October 26, 2024 by chasfh Quote
lordstanley Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Dodger Stadium is the 3rd oldest stadium in MLB, behind only Wrigley and Fenway. Opened in 1962, it is now as old as Tiger Stadium was in 1974. 1 Quote
lordstanley Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Game tied 2-2 in the 9th, looked for a second like the Yankees had gone ahead with a Gleyber Torres homer, but ruled a double due to fan interference. Probably the right call. Left fielder had no shot at it, but looks like it would have hit top of wall and bounced back onto field. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Tie game, 2 on, 2 out, Judge at the plate ... and the girl in the red cap behind home plate has had her head buried in her phone for the at bat. Quote

RandyMarsh Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Not saying it was the wrong decision but wild to see an IBB to get to a guy who posted a 223 OPS+, the greatest non Bonds season in nearly 70 years. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 These are the moments MLB has been waiting for. Yankees up by a run, bottom of the 10th, Dodgers have runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out for Ohtani Quote
RandyMarsh Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Walk off GS by Freeman, unbelievable! Quote
Sports_Freak Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Kirk Gibson....move over. There's a new LA legend...Freddie Freeman!! Quote
chasfh Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Taken on its own terms, Game 1 of the 2024 World Series will go down as one of the all time greats. 2 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Game 1 of the 2024 World Series was well worth the wait. Great game!! Quote
RandyMarsh Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Can't believe Boone walked to load the bases, I know it gave him a platoon advantage but not only did it make a single beat you more importantly it forces the pitcher to throw strikes. Cortes does not have the type of command to paint the corners so Freeman knew he was gonna be getting something good. 1 Quote

Yeah, there was already runners on 2nd and 3rd because of the LFer throwing the ball from the stands. But I agree with you, that pitcher hadn't pitched in a month. Quote
papalawrence Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Other than 84 for obvious reasons, I don't think I can recall a better overall playoff season in my lifetime. Great baseball for fans. If only Vin Scully had been here to call Freddie's shot 1 Quote
