lordstanley Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 This is the chance. Stanton up with 2 on 1 out. Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 The Dodgers have now walked nine Yankees. That’s right nine. I’m amazed they’re still in this game. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 This is pretty tense stuff, but even if the Dodgers screw the pooch in the ninth inning, they still have two more games in their back pocket. I’d just as soon see this season end here so we can move on with our own stuff. Deals awards. Etc. Quote

gehringer_2 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) the number of the counts is 3, and three shall be the number of the count. Neither shall it be 2. 4 is right out. Edited October 31, 2024 by gehringer_2 2 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 You know, taking a side in this dispute is sort of like taking a side in a marital dispute and you don’t really know either of the two parties very well. At least it’s like that for me. It is encouraging to see two other great teams do dumb stuff though. I don’t really follow other teams that much so this might allow me to be less discouraged by my own club when they do dumb stuff since it’s obvious that other clubs do the same thing. 1 Quote
lordstanley Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 It actually packed quite a few big moments into a 5-game series 1 1 Quote

For the Dodgers to win in 5 games and Ohtani not even being a factor just shows how bad the Yankees played. No way they should have lost game 5. Giving the Dodgers 6 outs in the 5th inning was their undoing. And there's already Dodger championship hats for sale...jeez 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 So did the Tigers issue nine walks in nine innings anytime this year? If they did, I think I would’ve remembered it because I like to save my petty grievances in a little compartment in my dark heart and this is a petty grievance I would’ve treasured so I could feel like we were all getting a raw deal and deserved better. 1776 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 The Dodgers should vote Cole a full share of the championship money after last night. If Commissioner Landis had seen that Cole would never wear a MLB uniform again. 1 Quote

Slow grounder to 1st would have got the Yankees out of the inning at 5-0 but Cole didn’t cover the bag. That ground out came on the 21st pitch of the inning, many of the later pitches being stressful. Cole had to toss another 17 stressful pitches in order to get the 3rd out. Quote

I think he was so relieved by seeing the routine ground ball after the intensity of 21 pitches that he had a brain cramp forgetting he had just a bit more work to do. Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 A metro bus was set on fire in Los Angeles during celebrations and 12 people were arrested for looting stores. Quote

Oh, I agree, I don't think it was fatigue that stopped him from covering 1st. But that failure was compounded upon later on. Quote
1776 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Interesting article on the Tampa Bay Rays ballpark, present and future. guy incognito Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) Looks like we won’t have Bob Costas to kick around anymore. I still think he was a genuinely great announcer when he was working with Kubek back in the day. http://amp.awfulannouncing.com/mlb/bob-costas-retires.html Edited October 31, 2024 by guy incognito 1 Quote
