I would love to be in a position to be asked what I think of Donald Trump when he was in the room looking at me.

That sounds like fun, but if you had any effect on him he'd destroy you.  you'd be heavily doxxed, there would be stories made up about you saying you were a pedophile, death threats, etc.

I know.  Trust me, I have fantasizsed and thought about this.  I think the actual way to hurt him would be to say something like "I remember he had some book in the 80's and Wrestlemania was at his casino, he was in the tabloids a lot for having affairs and getting married, then I sort of forgot about him until the Apprentice came on but I never watched.  To me he was just some washed up person from the 80's like Max Headroom or that Herb the Burger King guy.  Never knew why he was famous"

That is also how I remember him.  At the same time, he has always appealed to a certain kind of person and I never understood the fascination.  I never thought he'd be able create enough interest to become as "important" as he has become.  I have a difficult time reconciling how dangerous he has become with how irrelevant I always viewed him.

I remember he got into some spat with Rosie O' Donnell in the late 90's or early 00's and I wish we had the old site b/c I swear to God, I think I was siding with him on that one.

Jesus.

I have a difficult time understanding how some folks reconcile him as something he clearly is not (or, in some instances, reconcile him to not be something that he clearly is).

I never paid much attention to him. I assumed he was a successful businessman. I knew about the bankruptcies but thought it was just him being clever. Didn't take long to see he is a fraud and grifter.

Known him to be a bad faith businessman who stiffed many of his workers both in NYC, and in AC,NJ.
And, a groper. All around gross individual. Never could understand who could like this person, even before his stumble into politics.

This can’t be real but I have to share it anyways.

I think it's possible. That bronzer or whatever he puts on his face has to have some odor to it. In the past he had admitted to regularly using cologne regularly, throw in what we reportedly know of his diet and love of Diet Coke.....

My question always about Trump is - why did we know him?

Why was some real estate developer so heavily covered by the media?

Was it the New York angle?

I remember Trump as far back as his involvement in the USFL and that has to be 40 years ago or so.

Who was the equivalent Detroit area real estate developer at that same time frame - the early/mid 1980's?

About the only name I can remember is Alfred Taubman.

As far as I can tell he’s always been a self promoter. I also remember in the mid to late 90s when every city wanted a casino Trump was front and center in places like Chicago (actually Gary,IN) making pitches.

He promoted himself as the biggest, smartest, business man. Then when his fame waned he got in bed with Mark Burnett for his “Reality” show that got very good ratings for a while.

It worked, America has always had a soft spot for hucksters. He was the next Pat Robertson

My first recollection of him hitting national media was the messy break with Ivanna and subsequent interlude with Marla Maples and its ending. Tons of 'Enquirer' level ink on those. Then he started showing up in places like the Howard Stern program. He was a regular in the grocery check-out aisle media world. So he was a pre-formed vehicle to draw the reality TV audience demographic when NBC put together 'Apprentice'

It's possible.  Edlerly men have a difficult time holding their farts.  The next step would be ****ting his pants.

That’s exactly the same way I feel about Elon Musk.

I always heard people talk about how smart he was, but I never paid attention to him.  I have paid attention to him more since he bought Twitter and he sounds like an absolute moron.  I realize he probably isn't as dumb as he sounds, but he exhibits no intellect or cleverness whatsoever.  Thankfully, he is not eligible for presidency.
