chasfh Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Wenceel with the literal rookie mistake throwing to third allowing Willi to take second. Quote
chasfh Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 And Wenceel makes it up with the awkward sliding catch on the slight-misjudged dying quail. Quote
Tigermojo Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Hinch's clean baseball has been thrown out the window this week. So many mental errors. Perez does make a great catch at least but those mental lapses need to stop. Quote
lordstanley Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Meadows makes the final out with a fly ball to the warning track. 4-3 final. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Deciding run scores on Tork's inability to field a throw or a ground ball double play. But no criticism. He'll hit some home runs, eventually. Quote

kdog Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Aside from 3-4 games out of 21, every outcome has gone to the late innings where either team could win. If they could ever get separation on offense, we would be in business. Quote

The optimistic take is that the Tigers have been in just about every game without much if any offensive contribution from a guy who hit 31 HRs last year. Quote

What's the worst that can happen? 🤣🤣 I bet Verling is better than Tork at first right now and Carpenter could be just as good after training not straight away. Tork stinks as a first baseman. He is a DH. Quote

Is this an opposing correction to the mean? Are they not really as good as the first 15 games, but also not as bad as the last 5, and things will flatten out in between? Quote
chasfh Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Only one plate appearance into his Tigers career and Buddy Kennedy is already fifth on the team in offense above replacement: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2024&season1=2024&ind=0&rost=&age=&filter=&players=0&startdate=2024-03-19&enddate=2024-11-01&stats=bat&month=1000&team=6&sortcol=19&sortdir=default&pos=np Sadly, Colt Keith is dead last, even below Javy./ Quote
chasfh Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Also, not for nothing, remember how we were praising Tork’s defense out of the box the first week or so? Looks like his numbers have caught up with the eye test (20 innings/position minimum): https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?lg=all&type=1&season=2024&season1=2024&ind=0&rost=&age=&filter=&players=0&startdate=&enddate=&stats=fld&team=6&pos=all&month=0&sortcol=12&sortdir=default&qual=20 Quote
1984Echoes Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 If Urshela is out for any period of time... I'd like to see Keith at 3rd and Wenceel at 2B. Call it one week or two week's worth. Just to see what happens. Wenceel spent most of his time in the minors at 2B, and has better speed/range there... I know there are some concerns about Keith's shoulder strength... but let's see it. On a short-term basis. Once Urshela gets back... Hinch can figure everything out. Which may include some Toledo time for Keith so he can get his bat straightened out... Just sayin'... Quote
1984Echoes Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Looks like he's already on the 10-day... So there's the opportunity... Quote
