I worked with them on a propane project using F-150’s when they partnered with Roush. That went over like a lead balloon. A number of years ago I worked on some natural gas storage tech with super high surface area activated carbon. It 'worked' in terms of the carbon storing the gas at liquid like densities, but this was a synthetic carbon that was produced as powder and no-one ever found a way to pelletize it to sufficient strength without killing the surface area. That work was with GRI back in the day so I wondered given the Chicago connection. It wasn't what killed the project but an amusing unforeseen glitch with storing nat gas by adsorption is that you can start with safety odorized gas going in, but you get de-odorized gas coming back out. Oops. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) Axios reporting a possible Trump/McConnell fight over recess appointments, especially the likes of Gaetz. McConnell is no longer constrained by the bonds of Senate Leadership, he's 82 and probably may not run for re-election in '26. Killer quote Quote "I'm going to make John McCain sound like a dove," McConnell told Tackett. https://www.axios.com/2024/11/19/mitch-mcconnell-trump-confirmations-senate?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_axiossneakpeek&stream=top Edited November 19, 2024 by CMRivdogs Quote

But it's looking like at least two would be good......I suppose I could be wrong about Vance, but I'm not sure I want to risk finding out. Quote
oblong Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 McConnell is one guy I would bet on over Trump. Guy has balls of steel and has LBJ level craftsmanship in terms of senate manipulation. Quote

We're seeing MAGA republicans in the Senate, not just the House and we've had nearly 10 years of Trump poisoning the remaining folks. That said, I still won't bet against McConnell. As a long time listener to the Bulwark though, I'll channel a complaint they have had for a long time. So many republicans have acquiesced time and time again against Trump and when the camera wasn't on them they'd confide it was because they did it to allow them to stay in the room so when something big happened, they could be there to fight against Trump. Utter bull**** that it takes a 2nd term after you had the political and even public support to prevent that after 1/6, but I guess i'll take later rather than never. Quote
1776 Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 A McConnell/Trump fight would be much more entertaining than the Tyson/Paul fight. My money would definitely be on McConnell and the sooner the better. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 What the President Elect and his court seem to forget along with several members of Congress is the three branches of government are equals. That's third grade Social Studies. Quote

That's where a lot of Autocracies start out. The playbook is just successively neuter the other bases of power by the death of a 1000 cuts. Installing docile judges is always one fundamental starting point and Trump is already a way down that road - thanks in large part to McConnell. And now suddenly he's supposed to be our great white hope? I'm not holding my breath. Edited November 19, 2024 by gehringer_2 2 Quote

That's third grade Social Studies. Do you mean "his court", the people like Stephen Miller and Elon Musk who buzz around Trump at the White House? Or do you mean "the Court", as in the justices? Because I think the Court could easily reinterpret the law and the Constitution to neuter Congress or even the President and make themselves truly supreme. Who's going to stop them? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? They have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom etc. etc. etc. Edited November 19, 2024 by chasfh Quote

romad1 Posted November 21, 2024 Author Posted November 21, 2024 SO, the commercial real estate companies have the guy they wanted in power. They have the ability to get those offices in the cities back to higher occupancy. They have won so you will commute. The powerful have colluded against the proles to assure our serfdom. Quote
