That maybe, just maybe... The hitting coaches today said "All right, just screw it, if you see a good pitch, go ahead and swing." That's my conspiracy theory and I'm sticking to it. 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I saw a game at Chase a few years ago. It was hot in September and 100° but they still opened the roof and it stayed cool. Kind of sterile like a mall, but a really great mall. Wide concourses with ample elbow room, so clean you could eat off the floor, great food, terrific staff. Every step of the way, parking lot, ticket booth, hostesses, just top flight. Quote

Ibanez, Vierling, Urshella can all hold down the defense at 3rd - at least well enough not to hurt. But as McKinstry just demonstrated, it would get painful if McKinstry plays many innings at SS. Motor City Sonics Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 The speed they took will have worn off by today's game. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 13 runs without a homer is a good day at the office. And it's a sure sign of the end times. You think before they left on their road trip they called Leyland in to yell at them? Worked in '06. Quote

Does anyone know if Navigato in Toledo is an actual, real, live SS? I mean, he plays the position... Sometimes... Quote
Shinzaki Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Gibby and Benetti were having fun. It only took 7 years...but we finally have a starter comparable to Verlander Quote

Both now within reach of the magical .500 OPS level. I heard on a podcast that Baez is actually one of the team leaders in either AVG or OPS with RISP. I cannot find that matrix. However, check this little stat out. 19.3% of his inherited base runners have scored vs the Tiger team total of 14.5%. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/DET/2024-batting.shtml If you're interested, scroll down to Team PH/HR/Situ Hitting*. 1 Quote
