Irony is, if Chris builds a winner, he'l make lots more $....he must have been in college huffing whippets when his dad at least tried to win and had actual, you know, passion and drive for building a winner.

Exactly. Is he looking at making the most money he can or fielding a winning baseball team? Does he even care? I don't get the impression that he does. That gets me around to Harris...is he being instructed to keep the payroll as low as possible? If he took the job by promising to make Chris even more rich, I can see where he just goes along with a subpar lineup.

People said the same thing about Canha just a few weeks ago.

My corner outfielders are sluggers who drive the ball on a consistent basis. Perez has had a nice start to his career but wasn't expected to be up here doing so well. Hopefully he keeps it up, we need all the offense we can get. And while some fans question the moves Harris didn't make, nobody knows what he was allowed to spend. Talking about payroll? Illitch is a multi-billionaire. Fans act like it's their money. So what if the Tigers just break even, or even lose a bit of money? Would Chris rather have "he wanted to win bady" on his tombstone or..."he made a lot of money"?

Speaking of spending money, I'm sure Prince Fielder would take another 9/214 to come back here.

There are multiple teams in their division who are winning without spending big. But they make hard decisions and develop consistent everyday players. We have done neither. Harris has been gathering information for 20 months. He has to find a path and take it.

I seriously doubt that Ilitch is being stingy.  It was not a great free agency class this past offseason.  We have done a good job assembling a pitching staff—still think Maeda will contribute this season.

I would like to see Harris make some trades, leveraging our well regarded farm system for more established players to accelerate our path to relevance.

We're still awaiting the promised "calculated risk".

What if I told you Keith has an OPS of almost .900 the last 15 games and he is 74th percentile in range for a 2B. He is still learning the position but let's not act like he's been terrible out there.

This has been a nice surprise compared to what I remember hearing before seeing him.

Without sounding like a weirdo conspiracy theorist....that's what they want you to think. 😆

Ohtani was out there. The Tigers didn't even attempt to ask about him. Also, Shota Imanaga for the Cubs is totally dominating. Didn't even try for him. I'm sure there were also several other players out there that could have helped our very weak offense. We got Canha...a good player but somewhat limited in his abilities. If the Tigers had one or two more established hitters,we very well could be closer to first place than last place. We wasted some very good early season pitching...

First series all year where the Tigers were never really in any of the games.  It happens. If this starts happening more regularly I'll start to worry. Still feel a winning season is likely. Biggest concern for me is the bullpen. It's been knocked around for about a month now.

Hinch was presented with a question about this being the first uncompetitive series of the season.  He said he took exception to that.  He's lying, but he probably has to save some face after his mound visit, albeit that probably wasn't an obvious butt chewing per body language.

I'm going to guess the flight back home had some critiques to go along with the snacks.  Maybe Leyland could have addressed them on the tarmac.

the problem with this line up is there's too many Colt Kieth's. although a solid singles hitter, the Tigers have to scrape three singles together to get a run. that's tough to do to win a lot of games. they did it earlier, but most teams have guys who can score in bunches with power. Big difference.

Keith supposedly has a lot of power.  Hopefully, it shows up eventually now that he seems to be figuring out making good contact versus MLB pitching.

Just out of curiosity bow do you know the Tigers “didnt even try” for either of those players?   How do you know contact wasnt made with an agent or a rep?

who are these players the tigers should have signed?  And how much would they cost?  Who should they have trade for and who should we have traded? Would the other team have accepted that offer?  Real life isn’t Madden.

I'm not a GM...i can't offer trades, know who's available or know farm systems. I'm just very, very underwhelmed at the Tigers off-season moves. Like I said, I have no idea if Harris is under instructions to keep payroll down or not.

Not at Comerica. Apparently,  according to him, a 425' drive would be out of the park in Toledo. Comerica is in his head....lol

This looks like a death spiral to me. There aren't enough quality hitters on the roster, so the pitchers press. The hitters are trying to find the perfect pitch to hit. I am sure the hitting approach is being clearly communicated, given there are , what five of them at the big league level. Your "star" 1st baseman can't hit a middle, middle fastball at 91 miles per hour. People at the plate are trying to pull everything, so there is an endless parade of ground balls. The fielding at times has looked worse than a t-ball game by 7 year olds.

It is very clear now why Harris struggled to keep from laughing his ass off out loud at his introductory presser. He had **** to work with in the minor leagues and looks like it will be that way for a while. This is a very raw, untalented, undisciplined, and poorly led product on the field and the organization needs much work as well.

Hopefully, some maturity will manifest itself soon. I would like to think that an 80 to 85 win season is possible. It is difficult to believe that it a team that appears to now be DOA.

Mike ilitch owned the tiger for about 15 years before he tried to field a winner and they probably had the least amount of wins in that time period among mlb teams.  I was in high school and college during that period and had zero interest in following them.  Why would I waste time on such a terrible product.  I catch parts of games but that's about it.  I am about ready to care even less now.

Chris is no different than his dad at the beginning of his tenure except he is super cheap.  I expect to hear the organization banging the drum that they need a new stadium soon and us tax payers will need to pay for it.

I expect Flaherty to be traded before the all star break.  And Skubal will be shopped too.

And they aren't going to fire Hinch or Harris.  Ilitch isn't going to be on the hook for multiple salaries at the same time.

Are you kidding? Illitch thinks Harris & Hinch are baseball’s definition of genius!
