Last I heard he had started only one game this year and it was speculated that he had a health-related issue. I haven’t seen anything official about retirement, but that might’ve just happened today

Initial thoughts on Montero.   Very normal repertoire without exceptional stuff and leaves the ball out over the plate too much.   Doesn’t appear to have a single plus pitch.   Maybe he can help Toledo win a few games but doesn’t look like a prospect to me.

He was voted the best breaking ball in the Tigers organization.

At least Montero doesn’t have the deal with a cloud of accusations about gambling. I’m trying to put a good spin on this.
