The former will piss them off more, but I think the latter is funnier. 4th place, all day long! Quote
RandyMarsh Posted January 11 Posted January 11 God the thought of ND/OSU makes me sick. My sister in law is an ND grad so I either have to listen to her gloat or see OSU win. Both nightmare scenarios for me. Quote
Deleterious Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I will probably pull for ND. It will drive Brian Kelly nuts if they win. It's the small things. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I will pull for ND and deal with my sister in law's gloating, after all my brother/her husband and my Mom are UM grads so she had to listen to our family the past few years. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I guess the good news is that this will make back to back years that an SEC team didn't win. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I'll begrudgingly cheer for ND. I can't bring myself to pull for Ohio. Quote

buddha Posted January 11 Posted January 11 texas deserved that loss. pin it right on sark's head for trying to get cute on the goaline. running wide on second down killed them. RUN IT STRONG. michigan spends 4 (really 3) years showing you how to beat ohio state and still everyone wants to drop back 30 times a game. we'll see if notre dame has figured it out. probably not considering how they played against similarly weak penn state. run the damn ball. and tell ryan day his team is too soft to beat you. i hate osu (and notre dame) but back to back big ten champs would be cool. While I do agree to an extent, Michigan is so in Day’s head (and thus the whole team is tight- see 2 missed field goals, picks, etc) I don’t think the results are necessarily the same against any other team. I say this as someone who’s been a lifelong Buckeye fan who is going to be rooting for the upset as the only team I’ve come to root for more is ND (since my son is a graduate and his fiancé graduates this year) Quote
IdahoBert Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I don’t have anything against Notre Dame. I grew up in Indiana and my parents lived in South Bend for much of their lives before they moved to the small town I grew up in so rooting for Notre Dame was never hard for me. A lot of ordinary people in South Bend, though, saw Notre Dame students as bratty, entitled rich kids, and while my parents agreed with that assessment they were tolerant of my childish enthusiasm for the team that made they themselves roll their eyes. But in the late 1950s and early 60s, when I became aware of sports, the befouling temper tantrums of Woody Hayes rubbed me the wrong way so I always rooted for Michigan against Ohio State — even though I didn’t technically have any skin in the game — and I will easily root for Notre Dame against Ohio State. MichiganCardinal Posted January 11 Posted January 11 The bright side of this is that the next generation of sports historians will have no question about whether the 2023 Michigan team would have beaten the 2024 Ohio State team. Quote

I don’t like ND, particularly after they swept the Declan Sullivan wrongful death directly attributable to Brian Kelly’s decision under the rug, Having said that, because this should be a burr in his ass, I don’t mind them being the runner up this season. buddha Posted Friday at 03:47 PM Posted Friday at 03:47 PM So the department of education says title ix applies to NIL. lol. so now your nil money has to be equitably distributed between mens and womens sports. bwaaaahaahaa. let the cheating RECOMMENCE! Quote

Isn't it only of the $20.5 mil that the schools were going to be able to allocate themselves? Still huge, especially for group of 5 schools, but doesn't change anything from the current system does it? Quote

(i.e. the $20M) Isn't the whole idea being to get off the unsustainable NIL rat race? If it's the schools money it seems title IX was bound to apply. But as I recall the deal with the judge did include funds to women's sports. Heck - Title IX has been in place for years and they still put a ton more resource into FB than anything else. 🤷♀️ Quote
Hongbit Posted Friday at 09:22 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:22 PM Not a chance the equal distribution holds up under the new administration. Honestly, I’m not so sure that Title IX will continue to exist. Side note is that players can get 3rd party NIL that won’t affect their schools cap. NCAA is creating a group to vet anything over $600 to ensure they are real and meet fair market value and not a pay to play scheme to circumvent the cap. Quote
