MichiganCardinal Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 In the first year with no PAC-12, two of their former members are going to win their new conference championships. Good going Larry Scott & George Kliavkoff. 1 Quote
casimir Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Everybody talking Alabama or SMU for the final spot and I’m over here looking at PAC12 champion Washington State as the real invitee. Quote
casimir Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I fully expect Alabama to be included in the playoffs and that they will bitch and moan about not getting a home game. Quote
Hongbit Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 I wonder if Arizona State is thinking they never should’ve joined the Pac-10 in the first place. This is way down the list of their greatest teams and they are Big-12 champs in their first year. Quote

Old Big 8? Quote
casimir Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Nobody likes numbers, but I think they need to put together a computer model to add some semblance of objectivity to ranking teams for this playoff bracket. If you want to give out automatics to conferences, fine. But that shouldn’t be a precursor to a first round bye. And rerack these teams after every round. If 12 defeats 5, 1 should get them in the next round. Kind of like how the NFL works it’s playoff. Quote
Deleterious Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Top half of the bracket looks tough. Quote

Can’t imagine the TV magnates would be happy with SMU and Indiana advancing to the New Year’s Eve/Day round. if they were to rerack the same teams purely by ranking: (12) Clemson at (5) Notre Dame, then vs (4) Penn State. (9) Boise State at (8) Indiana, then vs (1) Oregon. (10) SMU at (7) Tennessee, then vs (2) Georgia. (11) Arizona State at (6) Ohio State, then vs (3) Texas. I tend to think that’s the way it should be, although again I’d rerack the second round so the worst remaining seed faces Oregon, then next worst remaining seed faces Georgia, and so on. Quote
VegasTiger Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 **** Purdue I hope they lose every game next year. Quote

Deleterious Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 How long before someone on a playoff team refuses to play unless their NIL deal is sweetened? Quote

This is one of the smarter moves by anyone in the portal. He was really good when healthy last year and is a legit one of the top corners on the market. He will get a big payday and probably start on CFP contender. Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) Am I allowed to question why Army/Navy needs its own day to play football and the playoffs don't start today? Or is that sacrilege like asking why the NFL needs to honor veterans with a standing ovation at every single game? Edited December 14, 2024 by MichiganCardinal Quote
