Am I allowed to question why Army/Navy needs its own day to play football and the playoffs don't start today?

Or is that sacrilege like asking why the NFL needs to honor veterans with a standing ovation at every single game?

I think it’s fine for an extra week before the playoffs.  I think the scheduling in between the rounds is actually fine the way they’ve done it.

Caveat Emptor

Not sure if he left or USC balked at giving him an increase after he was paid a ton of money last year and didn’t perform.   He went from being an All-American return man in 2023 to actually losing the job last year.

I don’t see any way how this proposed hard cap on NIL will stand up in court.   You can’t tell a player he’s unable to accept a legitimate marketing offer because the school is already over the $20.5M.

if the US Federal courts signs off, they can do pretty much whatever they want!

You can't take the court to court except to appeal it up, and I could see this as not being the kind of case an appeals court or the SCOTUS is very interested in taking.

Mike Vick named head FB Coach at Norfolk State. He grew up near there. Still an interesting choice

Quote

Former Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is the latest star player to make the jump directly into the college head coaching ranks.

Vick has been hired to take over FCS program Norfolk State, The Virginia-Pilot reports. Vick's involvement in the search was reported on Monday. He was also involved in the search at a second FCS program—Sacramento State—according to ESPN.

how does that survive a title ix challenge if dudes get 90% of the money.

I suppose same way football has always survived title IX.  Hasn't there always been recognition that the 'revenue' sports have the right to first call on their revenue?

But this is going create some interesting re-alignments. In the current system football revenue doesn't go directly to all the athletes on campus  - in fact doesn't go to any of them directly - yet., but it supports all their facilities and coaching. In the 'old' NIL system, it was all outside money that was just being passed through to the marketable athletes. But fund raising for NIL was also unsustainable,  exhausting for the fund raisers, and an arms race with no end game. Divert $20M of regular sports revenue into direct payment to students, and those students do better personally, but that money is now coming out of the the pool that use to go to program and facilities budgets. Richer swimmers - older swimming pools.....?

They will be awarding additional scholarships for most of the non-revenue sports.   This should satisfy Title IX since it’s about equal participation and not compensation.

This potentially opens the door for anyone that played JUCO to not have those years count against their eligibility.   We will see how hard the NCAA wants to fight this one.

This weather should really favor ND and their ability to run the ball.   Jeremiyah Love is future superstar.  He’s got a chance to be the RB1 in the 2026 draft and maybe better than Bijan Robinson.  I pains me to say it but I think the Irish are the team everyone is sleeping on.  Their only real weakness is head coach.

Indiana was trailing by 24 with 1:35 to go. Cut it to 10 points with 25 seconds to go. Would have been hilarious to see the 2-pt succeed to set up a scary onside kick.
