Someone has to be looking up Lincoln Riley's buyout number.

I wish I had a spare $88 Million lying around.    Yep.  That’s the number.

Riley is one of the worst in game coaches that I’ve ever seen.   I thought OU fans were just bitter when he left but they were right.   He’s a luckier version of Kliff Kingsbury.   Great QB coach that has been in the right places at the right time.  He doesn’t have the makeup of a big time coach.   He’s also a very overrated playcaller.

SEC is whooping the big ten's ass in ratings this year.

only michigan-usc and ohio state-oregon delivered big ratings for the big ten.  michigan-texas did too.

most of the marquee big ten games are still to come like penn state-ohio state, michigan-oregon, and michigan-ohio state, but the big ten needs to step it up.

but this is just going to highlight the deadweight in these conferences.  why do northwestern, purdue, illinois and other schools get the same amount as michigan and ohio state?  at least 1/2 the schools in the big ten are a drag on the conference and bring nothing to the table.

when the super conference arrives, things may look very different.

for the immediate future, the networks are going to want to see the big boys play each other every year.  none of this 2024 penn state schedule with one big game on it.  the big boys will have to run the gamut.

21-7?

😢

its not that those teams cant beat the marquee teams, its that not enough people care to watch.  this is about eyeballs.

for as bad as michigan and usc are this year, people watched that game.  maryland and illinois beat both of them.  when maryland plays illinois no one will care and hardly anyone will watch.

michigan, ohio state, penn state, usc, oregon (until phil knight dies), those are the teams people will watch now.  you can throw ucla, michigan state, washington, nebraska, and maybe wisconsin and iowa in the mix there as name programs or programs with some attachment to a big program (like msu or ucla).

rutgers, maryland, purdue, indiana (i know this year is fun but lets be honest, that coach is moving on soon) northwestern, illinois, minnesota...not enough people care.

if they want to join the super league, theyre going to need to do an oregon amd get a sugar daddy to fund the program.  otherwise they'll be relegated to the second division.

If they finish hammering out a system where the schools pay the athletes directly and the TV contracts are distributed equally, any school lucky enough to have leveraged itself into one of the major conferences left standing won't be more than good coach hire away from making noise. And the thing is the draw is always about winning. Mich and USC draw because they win, if they start to lose and Indiana starts to win, then after a few years IU will pull better ratings - I don't think the average fan has that long a memory. Depth of tradition may matter to the alums, and that give you some kind of base, but alums are never more than a minor piece of the audience in a top match up.

to a degree.  usc hasnt won anything since pete carroll left and theyre still a draw (albeit a smaller one).  notre dame is still a draw.  tennessee.  nebraska to a degree.

i understand your point and there is some truth to it, but "being a good coach away" is true BUT that good coach gets poached quite quickly 9 times out of 10.  you make it sound easy and it is not.

msu was a solid team under dantonio and they were never the draw michigan is even when michigan sucks.  and now no one givea two squirts about msu.  it will return to relevance when they hire a good coach and then return to irrelevance the minute he leaves or michigan gets good.  michigan will be watched even when brady hoke is their coach.

He coached in an awful Big 12 when Texas was down.   And that's it.    Hey, but if I was him, I'd have cashed in too !

Don't worry..........Franklin will **** this up.

Terrible calls. 1st and goal and try, unsuccessfully, to run up the middle, over and over. Then incomplete on 4th down. Maybe try to run outside for an easy TD? Stupid....

And these announcers are pro OSU. Disgusting

James Franklin = Bo Schembechler.      Always ranked, but never the champ + stubbornly hangs onto running up the middle.     Which makes what Michigan did to them last year so funny.

bo won 13 big ten championships in 20 years.
