Hinch talks about how they they always get two out singles and can't stack any kind of offense together. I've seen him mention it at least five times in his postgame. First two guys make outs, then the 3rd guy hits a meaningless single which doesn't matter. To counteract that, you would need some power but they have very little of it.

It’s what always happens when you have a line-up with low OBP. It’s simple math, when individual batters have high probability of making outs, you don’t get many multi hit rallies or men on base leading off innings.

If it wasn't for Mize's draft position, do you think he would be in long relief out in the bullpen?

He doesn’t throw enough strikes or Ks to be a good BP candidate. TBF he doesn’t have enough IP since the TJ to give up on, but it points to how important it would have been to get him into competition before last season ended.

I get the point about surgery, but if he doesn't improve, what value does he actually have?
