6/24/24 6:40 PM Phillies @ Tigers

Given the low bar, Mize didn't implode. That's decent news with the fact that they are doing some kind of bullpen game on Wednesday. The Phillies are a wagon so it doesn't matter either way. These two teams aren't playing in the same league, but don't play the same sport.

In McKinstrey's defense it's probably the first time he has been on third base all season, probably doesn't remember what to do there.

He even stopped and looked, and still decided to come home. You can’t make it up.

10 Ks and 19 swinging strikes from Mize and still gets hit around.

It's hard to tell from start to start whether to be encouraged or depressed by Mize's starts. It's really been a mized bag of good and bad pitches.

They've got two more years of control on a cheap contract. Unless he gets hurt again, you bring him back and see if he can ever put it together.

He usually keeps the Tigers in the game. In 14 starts he’s allowed 3 runs or fewer 11 times, 12 if you only count earned runs. That will play as a #4 or #5 starter. He does need to go deeper in to games. He’s only averaging 5IP a start.

I’ve been gone all night and didn’t see the game. I just looked at the box and, holy sh*t, Casey Mize.

I just did a query, and Casey Mize is literally only the second guy in modern baseball history to strike out at least 10, walk nobody, give up at least nine hits, and do it all in 4-1/3 innings or less:

This is a very modern baseball thing to do. Nobody could have done this before the last ten or fifteen years, because of how the game has evolved.
