Rumor was that Danny Ainge and the Jazz owner were dumping a ton of cash into his NIL deal.  Some suggested up to $5M for one year which would be even larger than Bryce Underwoods deal (per year) to play QB at Michigan.

UM Danny Wolf could be an interesting guy ...stretch 4or 5...passes the ball well.

Never heard of him but seeing quite a few people discussing him. A lot of folks seem to like him.

UM is kinda swimming against the current running a twin towers line up with Wolf and Goldin (both 7 ft post players)...

I think it's more or less working so far because Wolf has the range and passing skills to effectively work the high post.  No idea if he has the quickness or ability to be a rim protector...but at the very least he seems like an interesting bench guy in the league

Tuned in to watch Rutgers and Harper was sitting out.  No reason given.

Thats OK, it was the Ace Bailey show today.  He went for 39 and man did he show a bit of everything.  He went deep into his bag.  Scored at all 3 levels, driving, mid-range floater, 3PT shot, creating for himself, etc.  Also might be the first time I have seen him play acceptable defense.

Top 3 is really good this year.

BTW, that Rutgers team is all kinds of bad.  They legit have 2 of the top 3 draft picks on their roster and they might miss the tournament.

Sam and Bryce were talking about this on Game Theory the other day. Basically they said that the draft is only stacked at the very top and the rest of it is so bad that they're having trouble making their draft boards beyond the early lottery. They have no idea who to put in the late first.

Just something to keep in mind as the Pistons will probably not be in the top 5 unless they get crazy lottery luck. Too many teams like Wizards, Hornets, Raptors, Nets, Pelicans, and Jazz are tanking hard this year and a couple more (Miami, Chicago) might join them.

Hollinger has an article today discussing upperclasman and the draft.

Quote

Let’s start with the bad news: It’s not a great draft if you’re an upperclassman.

That’s true for one simple reason: My goodness, this freshman class is good. It’s not just Cooper Flagg-mania either; between the unusually talented group in the NCAA this season and the surfeit of overseas players in their first draft-eligible year, we could end up with the entire lottery composed of either one-and-dones or teenaged Europeans. It feels like the list is just getting longer, actually — over the past several weeks, Georgetown’s Thomas Sorber, Michigan State’s Jase Richardson and Alabama’s Labaron Philon all entered the group chat.

Right now, I’m not sure there’s a single upperclassman who is a consensus top-20 pick (not a high bar). Making matters worse, a couple of the ones who seemed closest to breaking through have had fairly underwhelming starts to their seasons.

ESPN loves him.  Up to 21 in their lates mock.

There isn't another player in college basketball like him with his ability to push off the defensive glass, creativity operating out of pick-and-roll handling, passing and finishing skillfully with both hands, and finding teammates off a live dribble. College bigs often have no idea how to defend his ball-screen actions with 7-foot-1 center Vlad Goldin, with Wolf's ability to play off crossovers and hesitation moves, reject screens, dish on the move and throw in 3-pointers pulling up against unders or ducking behind handoffs. He has improved his rebounding, finishing and defensive versatility from last season, showing a strong motor and sharp instincts recovering for blocks and steals while being in the right spots off the ball and generally holding his own.
