But even for this, it only works if you know the game well enough or had played it so that your mind is able to fill in the action from the description. A fan already knows well what his team’s DP combo looks like making the play so you don’t need to see it as much. Sort of the inverse of basketball or hockey where radio is harder because there is no set form to what is happening.

You can mix boys and girls and there isn't an advantage to one or the other. The equipment is cheaper.

I agree about baseball, fans know when to pay attention and when it's time to chat with your friends or grab something from the fridge. Soccer (at least European soccer) is just dreadful as a spectator sport to me, not exciting in the least bit, and has very little to interest the mind. Because my wife is from Spain, I have watched a fair amount of European soccer. I think if they had more liberal ball-advancement rules it might be OK to watch, at least as a mind-numbing thing on the TV while I do something else...maybe MILS is better, I don't know. RandyMarsh
My college girlfriend played soccer so I would always go to her games and outside of looking at some hot chicks I freaking hated it. She tried to teach me how to play and I could never grasp it.

The idea they like to say is the non athletic kids play soccer, they are also the socially awkward kids playing soccer, I dunno.
