Not to be extra cynical about such things but we would get at least 1 3rd round comp pick for Glenn, would we get another for Staley?  I had heard PODcast talking about this the other day while coworkers were telling me to evacuate the building because of a nerve gas attack (writer’s embellishment).  So i don’t recall what they said on the POD.

Staley isn't on the Lions staff so they wouldn't get a comp pick. If Glenn hires say Randle-el for offensive coordinator, they would get a comp pick.

How many comp picks could we get? If Glenn and Johnson both get hired, is that 2 picks at the end of the 3rd round?

The comp picks are only for minorities, aren't they?

Only for minorities. How I read it is if for example Glenn gets hired we would get a 3rd pick at the end of each of the next 2 drafts. Let’s say Glenn gets an HC job and Agnew got a GM job we would get 1 3rd pick for the next 3 drafts.

The way Holmes drafts, those picks are extremely valuable.

But can’t someone “identify” however they want now? Johnson could simply say, “I identify as a black lesbian”. And then bingo it just becomes true automatically.

Kerby Joseph was a comp pick. Melifonwu was technically a comp pick. The Rams traded their comp pick to the Lions as part of the Stafford trade.

Considering we don't have a 3rd round pick in next years draft, that would be an added bonus.  Would still rather keep our current situation in tact.  Don't think it'll mean we will take a step back but continuity is always a factor in continued success.  If we were to lose one, I would rather it be Glenn.  Not just because of the pick but also because I think there will be a lot of DC's out there that would be fighting to be our DC if we don't hire within.  Same can be said with OC although I think the offense will take a little longer to figure everything out.  Plus the extra 2 3rd round picks helps some with Holmes as your GM.

I actually think you have to consider trading Hooker to Vegas or somewhere else (that is if teams actually want him).  He would probably net a 3rd round pick and the teams needing a QB are at the beginning of each round so almost a late 2nd round pick.  Hooker was being discussed as a 1rst round pick before his ACL tear.  So it would make sense for Vegas to consider this with where they are picking and losing out on Ward and Sanders.  If this is true than Ben feels he is a legit starting QB in this league and it could be known throughout the league and maybe you could get a 2nd.

I don't agree. Glenn has been amazing using practice squad players after all of the injuries. The Lions defensive schemes are outstanding. It would hurt losing Johnson but the players are the ones executing his offensive plays. Glenn has put together a defense of castoffs and practice squad players.

Forget GM alignment and massive contracts, that job would be perfectly suited for Ben.  He’d kill it with that offense.    

I’m definitely pulling for the Eagles tomorrow.

Wow, talk about a meltdown.    Houston gives up a 63 yard return and one of the Texas shoves his special teams coach ON THE FIELD and gets a 15 yard penalty.   So KC gets 78 yards right from the jump and turns it into 3-0.
