A lot of Lions fans wanted the hometown boy Robert Saleh and now he's gone in New York. I liked Saleh at the time but had preferred a more offensive-minded coach. Glad we hire MCDC instead of Saleh as it's worked out way better for us in the end.

Saleh dug his grave when he told one of the greatest QBs in NFL history not to use one of his greatest skills. Read the room, dude.

It’s a crazy move at 2-3 but it makes sense if you realize they’ve set themselves up with a tiny window to make a Super Bowl run.   They are in a desperate situation.  Rodgers has this year and maybe next year.   They have no future QB in place and no real way to acquire one.

Maybe this is why SI fired all their staff this year.

If they were going to fire him for a 2-3 start with a 40yo QB who hasn’t completed a pass in two years, they should have fired him at the end of last season.

The Jets are Jetting. It’s idiotic if they think Jeff Ulbrich is going to win any more games than Saleh would have.

They would have if they thought they could start 2-3.   They believed they were a Super Bowl contender.

It reminds of a management philosophy that was first told in my 20’s which I thought was idiotic at time but have grown to understand.

When’s the best time to fire someone?

Iirc Saleh was at the top of my wish list that year even though I usually preferred offensive minded coaches. 

I was underwhelmed initially at the Campbell hire, only cause he wasn't a hot shot coordinator which was all the craze then and for the most part now.

But after his presser and doing more research on how he was a Payton protege along with not being anti analytic he won me over.

Felt like he could give you the best of both worlds, a coach that players respect and get motivated by but also a guy that can be an Xs and Os type guy that has an open mind to new school football.

Best division in football and not sure it's really that close right now. This should toughen up the Lions going into the playoffs.

I'm not convinced that Saleh was the wrong hire for the Jets. Their issues go way deeper than the coaches, it's not like he's a Patricia level disaster where everybody regressed under his watch. Can't win in this league with a one dimensional offense that isn't even that good at that one dimension engineered by a bust and a fossil that can barely move.
