Are you saying the pump fake beyond the line of scrimmage?

Can't speak for hongbit but for me it's the "giving yourself up" like you are going out of bounds only to then turn up field. A defender in that situation is in a tricky situation, if Mahomes would have stepped out like he was acting to then he almost surely would've been called for a late hit so instead he slows up to avoid that only for the QB to then turn it up field.

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. But I disagree that this is what happened here. Mahomes slowed down and the defender starting slowing down too, but couldn't stop in time. The defender was in front of Mahomes, Mahomes saw that he was running to hard and thought he could get around him... and he could.

1. Defender is in position to get to Mahomes, Mahomes is stopping his run and starts to change speed/direction
2. Defender is still in position to tackle Mahomes
3. Defender is still in position, but has over pursued and...
4. Can't stop in time to get Mahomes who...
5. Slips by the defender

If you're contending that the defender slowed down and "eased up" on his approach because he thought Mahomes was going out of bounds, then he should have been in an even better position to stop and still block Mahomes.

Yes, but what does this mean for Aaron Rodgers?

This is not magic!  This is what is wrong with the game.  Total BS that he’s gaming the rules the league created for the sole purpose of protecting him.

This play needs to banned immediately in the same way as the fake slide.

I totally agree. He does this and later now have to finish the play. Then they push him and get a flag. It’s stupid.

You are saying that you think that defender was trying to lay him out and just missed?  No. That defender knew if he touched the golden boy anywhere near the boundary, even in bounds, he’d get a 15 yard penalty.

I mean... yes and no. It's okay to be loud, I'm not sure on the obnoxious side of things. I was lurking over in the Vikings sub and I saw someone posted something about their experience. According to the post a bunch of drunk Lions fans heckled him and his family and made sexually suggestive comments to his wife and mother. That's being way too obnoxious imho. And I know every fan base has their losers who get too drunk and take things too far. I know most fans aren't like this. But I don't think we should be afraid to call out our own when they cross the line.

Celebrate the Lions absolutely! Cheer as loud as you want too... I freakin' LOVE IT when I hear chants of LET'S GO LIONS or JARED GOFF at away games. That's just AMAZING too me. But don't get opposing fans faces... don't be obnoxious. And if you can't control yourself when your drunk, maybe you shouldn't be in public when your drinking heavily.

Unfortunately A$$holes are everywhere and to think our fans don't have them is naive.   I remember Cleveland Cav fans after they finally beat us in a playoff game in a bus outside of the palace screaming F Detroit (the whole bus for about 10 mins) with kids everywhere.  I wish our fans would behave although its going to happen.

I think there are some terrible people in every fan base. No fan base is small enough to avoid it. There are definitely more bad people in some (Eagles, Raiders, Browns) than others (Bills, Jaguars). I tend to think that the Lions fall into the latter category, but I have rose-colored glasses on in that assessment.

I've been to over 30 games at Ford Field in the last four years, from the blowouts in 2021 to the playoff wins last year, and the worst I have seen was two Lions fans getting into it after one called the other trash (spoiler alert: they were both trash).

Even when I saw drunk Bucs fans at Hockeytown Cafe being obnoxious after the week two game, running around the party deck with a Bucs flag, people just ignored them or reminded them of the Divisional Round.

I work with a Vikings fan and I went right into his office on Monday morning and shouted JA-RED GOFF right in his face until security invited me to take the rest of the day off. I love Victory Monday!

GOAT?

I wonder how much of this is thanks to Dan Campbell’s aggressiveness. All but his first season were under Campbell.

Most if not all NFL punters can send a punt 40+ yards. If you’re across midfield though, you don’t want to boom it, for obvious reasons. Which means punts from the opponents’ 40, which are fair caught at the 10, bring down both the net and gross punt distances.

Under Campbell though, if you get across midfield and it’s 4th and <5, you ain’t punting. Punting is for the weak.

So if you’re a punter under Campbell, the vast majority of your punts are coming from your own territory, where you can let it rip.

Well he’s punted 18 times this year and has 16 total return yards. He’s 9th in punt average. I think it’s safe to say that he’s not just booking them all. He’s also limiting return yards.

The Vikings trading for Stafford would be stupid. They only have a 1st and two 5ths in 2025, and Darnold looks better than Stafford.

I think this would be a horrible idea for the Vikings and seems desperate.  It wasn't like the Dallas game and I don't feel like Darnold looked bad in that game.   I would be very surprised if this trade happened.

I definitely can see Kupp getting calls with all receivers going down

It’s also easy to forget that Darnold is younger than Joe Burrow. Only six months older than Hendon Hooker for that matter.

The Jets probably took 15 years from his life, but it’s not unfathomable that this isn’t some flash in the pan resurgence that is sure to fade.

Yes, it is a horrible idea, a desperation move, and that’s why I hope they do it.
