9-6 Rams, or 3 FGs to 2. I think if the game is tied with 43 seconds to go and one team has a 4th down within FG range, in this case they should definitely kick the field goal. Offenses are doing little. At least the Rams have picked up good yardage the past two drives, but are getting bogged down by redzone difficulties like they did in last year's playoff game against the Wings.

Why is OPI a ten yard penalty while DPI is spot of the foul? It seems disparate, even in a league that loves itself some offense. College has it as 15-yard penalty for OPI, and a spot foul under 15 yards for DPI, to a max of 15 yards. NFL reduces the OPI and increases the DPI.

OPI should be more onerous. Loss of down, 15 yards, something to make it sting on the same level as a DPI does.

I think that penalty (and clipping calls) used to be 15 yards? I think it was changed in the '70's.

Edit...it was 1974

"Reducing penalties on offensive players from 15 yards to 10 for holding, illegal use of hands and tripping."

Is it really a good idea to have that creepy old man around that many young girls?

OMG...I've been hearing comments about this so I did some Google "research." Bill's girlfriend is 25 years old!! And notice the look on his face?

49ers are going to be 1-4 in the division. They lose the tiebreaker with every team in the division.

And the Rams-Seahawks play each other the final week. So if the Seahawks beat Green Bay this weekend, the Niners are eliminated from the division. The Niners lose the tiebreaker to GB on head to head. So the only playoff spot left to them would be Washington. If the Commanders beat the Saints this weekend to get to 9-5, the Niners are all but mathematically eliminated.

Well, the Lions don't play them until after Christmas. The 49'ers will be done by then. And it is payback time....another division the Lions can sweep.

very worried about the rams.  want no part of them.  go seahawks.

I think the Rams are good, but the Lions are on another level. The Lions have beaten them twice in the last year, and I think the Lions are better now than they were in week one (as evidenced by week two). I wouldn’t really be worried about playing them in the Divisional Round, at least not relative to the Eagles, Packers, and maybe Vikings.

And the Rams are only 1/2 game behind Washington so that's another path to the playoffs. If the Lions win the #1 seed, there could be an intriguing wildcard round matchup of #7 Rams @ #2 Eagles. Who would I cheer for that instance? On one hand, perhaps a legitimate chance for the Rams to do the dirty work of knocking out the Eagles. But that would mean Rams @ Lions in the divisional round.

on another level?  they beat them in OT at home in week one when the rams were without half their starting lineup including both starting tackles and kupp (iirc).

and they beat them in the playoffs last year thanks to a blatantly missed PI call.

the rams and stafford are very dangerous if healthy.  i'd much rather play the vikings and sam darnold, purdy and an injured niners team, or the packers who weve already beat twice.

i want no part of the eagles or the rams.

Guy signed a $50M contract after that one big year in Green Bay and has never been the same.

Dude played 'em and got his money (probably a big signing bonus).     This league takes advantage of these guys and their health all the time, but when a player does it back there is so much outrage.       Can't believe he's still on the team as of 9:30am EST today.      I wouldn't like it if I was a Niners fan.   And if I was a player I wouldn't want to play along side that guy while I am risking my neck, but as far as he goes - he got paid and now it's time to go live the rest of his life, because I am pretty sure nobody is going to ever sign him again after this.    I would say The Raiders might because they are The Raiders, but Tom Brady wouldn't allow that now.

I remember when Todd Marinovich was a rookie and the QB for the Raiders went down and the coach looked over at him and he shook his head No and they put in the other backup.

I think the closest we probably had to this was when Titus Young purposely started running the WR1 routes because he didn't want to be QB3 anymore.    He was released after that.   I know other Lions players wanted to wreck him.  But he had pretty severe mental illness.

The Lions offense was not clicking in that game. Since they've started firing on all cylinders (whenever you define that as being but certainly after week two), they haven't lost a game.

The Rams offensive line is still a mess. They've benched their blue chip free agent Jonah Jackson after they realized they didn't have a role for him, and have lost games to the Bears (in week four) and Dolphins (in week ten) this season, and have been smoked by the Eagles at home just a few weeks ago.

If they're playing at their best, they're a playoff team, and no playoff team is an easy out. But I would expect a third rematch to be along the lines of what the Lions/Bucs game looked like in the Divisional Round last year, where it's set at a -6 to -7 spread, and if the Lions play their game, they win it far more often than not.

He should probably retire. Like today.

I'm sure the 49ers can recoup their money on his current contract. He's breaching his contract if he's not injured.

Sure, but if he isn't stupid with his money the salary he already made this year and previously should be enough to live on.

Could you imagine getting even a year of that kind of money?      I know I'd be set for life.       But I am not one of these foolish people that has to have the best of everything with the need to flaunt anything.    I guess I've never had anything to flaunt, but if I had that kind of money I would live pretty quietly and find something to do for a living that I liked doing.  If I won the lottery today I would still do my current job.   I would just pay 2 or 3 assistants to help with the tedious parts.

Same here. If I didn't work I would get bored, and probably end up blowing it all.

The biggest fear about losing my job would be loss of income, but a very close second would be boredom.   It would drive me insane.
