You're not saying they shouldn't protect the starters, you're just saying Dan Campbell won't rest them. I agree he won't but I would, and he doesn't play them at all in the preseason.

I trust Campbell so completely that I don't think the difference between will and should are that distinct for me. Obviously I understand the perceived benefit to resting key starters, and he's not above reproach, but I just am not one to question a head coach who is 35-10 in his last 45 and took the Detroit Lions to the NFC Championship Game last year.

His methods are clearly working, I kind of think they should do whatever he says they should do.

I'm in the Championship in my FF, with Goff as my QB and with Jaymo and Bates. So I want them to play but in a perfect world, we score in our first 3 or 4 drives and get the main guys out. The game does have meaning, a win would allow us to win the division by tying the Vikings. A loss and the Vikings get the division with a tie. At least, I think?

I think the Bears drafted the wrong quarterback.

Again.

Looking back at the mock drafts, it is amazing how the hive mind forms. If it is scary to be wrong even as a mock drafter, imagine how much scarier it is to be wrong when sitting at pick one. But in retrospect, Daniels was the far more mature and NFL-ready prospect as compared to Williams (and even Maye, who was mocked by many to go before Daniels).

Agree and for this year Daniels was definitely the better pick.  Time will tell if it stays that way.   Hive mentality often makes the determination of franchise QB way too early.

His ability to get first downs with his legs has been huge for him.  The team will start limiting this big time after he gets his first big injury as we’ve seen happen many times in the past.

There’s starting to be a noticeable trend where college performance is carrying over to NFL success like never before.    The college game has changed and it’s time for NFL scouting to change with it.

So many All American level college players that slipped outside round 1 due physical measurements and combine testing are finding themselves tearing it up in the league.

More emphasis on college production and less on 40 times and physical measurements.  Most teams need to value the tape much more as the good ones already have.

If I were a GM, I’d take my staff to the combine just for the player interviews and skip the entire 5 days of on field workouts.   It’s fools gold.

The QBs for the top two teams in the NFC are Goff and Darnold. You have Mayfield as QB of the south leading Bucs. All three were discarded by their former teams. The Panthers had two of them.

On the other side of the coin, Carson Wentz and Jimmy Garappolo were looked at as possible future Hall of Famers.   Quick decisions often end up wrong in this league.

Holmes has taken this approach. I remember reading the Lions go by game speed using GPS than combine measurables. Teams that go by combine measurables generally don't perform well. See Jacksonville selecting Trayvon Walker over Hutchinson. I think teams are too confident in their coaching and feel they can teach athletes. It's like the old adage you can't teach speed.

I feel like Jordan Love falls into this category. I wouldn't be surprised if he went the way of Wentz, but he doesn't seem to be the headcase Wentz was.

It's hard to say if Darnold would've developed if he stayed there but assuming he did the Jets have to be kicking themselves for not only giving up on him but doing so by drafting Alex Wilson in a stacked 2021 class.

They could be looking at having Sewell, Chase, Parsons, Surtain on their roster along with a much better qb situation.

Still not as big of blunder as the Browns with Mayfield for Watson though.

The Bears totally swallowed the “generational” hype and never even brought Daniels in for a look. Despite having a better season than Williams. Can you believe that? It’s such a contrast to Brad Holmes and how deep he goes with player evaluation.

Poles has a purple thumb for drafting. Warren blocks hiring Jim Harbaugh for petty personal reasons. The stadium is a dump and they can’t get a new one built. The ownership is a clan of incompetents. And their prized QB is already looking like an immature diva. If I were Ben Johnson I wouldn’t go anywhere near that breathtaking dysfunction

He’s having an amazing rookie season when you consider how bad the OL and Coaching Staff has performed around him.  Add in DJ Moore looking like he quit weeks ago and Keenan Allen suddenly getting a bad case of the dropsies.

No doubt he is to blame for some of these sacks.  He’s been sacked a league worst 67 times on the year.  Thats an astronomical number.   Even if 20 are his fault (which is probably high),  that still almost 50 sacks which would still rank top 7 worst.   Their OL is that bad.

The Bears are like the Millen Lions. I remember we had to get weapons for Harrington so we draft a bunch of receivers. The Bears go out and draft Odunze and trade for Allen and sign Swift, but don't put much resources into the offensive line. They do spent a lot of money on linebackers. Even Bob Quinn knew you had to spend resources on the line.

Forgot to mention 30th in QBR and 29th in completion %. Or that he plays so poorly to start games that his stats get padded from playing catch up. And of course his INTs are low. He’s too scared to throw the ball. He gets sacked more than any QB in the league because he won’t let go of it.

I’ll admit he’s good at causing broken plays with indecisiveness, running for his life, then heaving a hero ball while doing the splits in midair. Really good at that

Current QBR has Kyler Murray and Jordan Love ranked higher than Jared Goff.    Not sure it’s worth very much.

Make whatever final decisions you’d like about Caleb Williams after year one.   History tells us it’s usually a very poor indicator of future QB success.
