I was hoping for something better.

The concerns with Tork being able to straighten himself out are why I think we should pursue a one year deal , like Paul Goldschmidt.  Can still play 1B, if necessary, or DH and provides another RH bat.

well Harris just announced that Javy is on the "whiteboard" as Sweeney's platoon partner, so there's that I guess

I think this is right.  Sunk cost, worth seeing if his surgery can fix him.  If not, bring up Kreidler or Leonard as the platoon partner against LH pitching (or 50-60 games).

Placeholder solution until McGonigle is ready.

So it was his back or hip that made him swing at pitches a foot and a half outside of the strike zone?

Sure, they need someone to pair up with him.   Goldschmidt could be a mentor.     They need something.     Maybe Mark Canha is available again !!!!!

Why even speculate on Sasaki,  everyone knows he's going to be a Dodger.

I have pooh-poohed a lot of players here that we have zero chance of getting, but I think there is an actual non-zero chance Sasaki comes here.

To be clear, I'm not predicting he will. It's at least a 100-1 shot. But I don't think it's absolute zero, because the Tigers are known to be a team on the rise, have a Japanese-speaking pitcher already in the fold, and have been developing a reputation for being pitcher whisperers. I don't think we'll win him, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that we were a consideration along with the Padres, Mets, Astros, Cubs, and Red Sox.

I do think the last two standing will be the Padres and Dodgers.

would Harris need to pay a premium in prospects to get Luis Robert?

not sure WS want to see him in division, but Robert would be an impactful move for a RH bat; if healthy, great bargain for the next 3 years - 15, 20, 20

Greene, Meadows, Carpenter vs RH with Robert at DH

Greene, Meadows, Robert vs LH

WS need everything and if you're going to trade Crochet, no reason to hold onto Robert

I think the idea of Luis Robert is more compelling than the reality of what we could expect.  I’m not sure he’s an upgrade over Vierling at this point.  And more expensive, not to mention the prospect capital that would be required to acquire him.  If he’s on a decline, let’s not bail out the White Sox.

If they would sign Kim, I could definitely see Baez getting a reasonable chance until Kim is ready.  If they don't sign Kim, I'd be shocked if they go into the season counting on one of Baez/Kreidler/Leonard having to be the platoon/backup shortstop.  I think they at least get another right handed option who can play short in case Baez doesn't show improvement rather than counting on Kreidler or Leonard.

Not sure we should totally rule out Andrew Navigato.   Quietly had 21 HR, 22 SB  and an OBP of .363 for Toledo last year.    That's a pretty decent season.    Defense is a bit shaky, however.

I've always had a bit of a mancrush on Robert the on field player and always felt he had superstar talent but I'm not sure what he is like off the field and if his character would fit in our clubhouse.
