I think the Tigers are being prudent, waiting out players whose price might drop.

I also think they don’t want to block young players, like Jung.  They need either a RH bat that can play either OF or 3B, with Vierling filling in the other spot.  And 1B insurance for Tork.

Ideal acquisition is a 1B/3B that hits RH.  Frees up Vierling for the OF, where he can fill in in any spot.

We really could use a closer who misses bats.

Maybe we get lucky and Lange gets over his yips after this rehab. He only walked one in 9 appearances in Toledo after he was sent down.

Another first baseman is on the move tonight - Nate Lowe to the Nationals.  He bats left-handed, so he probably wasn't a target of the Tigers.

They did get Jordan Balazovic though.

RIzzo is toast that's already been cut and buttered.

No, that's Goldschmidt.  Rizzo is burnt toast which you try to scrape off, but you end up throwing it out.

You just have to put more peanut butter or jelly on the toast.  But I don’t think that will work with either Goldschmidt or Rizzo.

On a related note, I decided on coconut chicken curry soup with toasted bread for dinner tonight. I burned the first round of toast and despite cranking open the windows, our kitchen still smells like the Tigers’ 2002 season (or Jeremy Bonderman’s first innings, if you will) a few hours later.

Walker Buehler reported to Boston and Manaea back to the Mets.  There aren’t that many arms left out there. I wonder if a reunion with Flaherty, Verlander, or Scherzer might be a possibility.  The latter two are more about nostalgia than results, but I still wouldn’t mind

I don't understand why otherwise knowledgeable fans are salivating over the idea of Verlander and/or Scherzer coming back here for 2025. Do they think it's still 2013 and they're still 29?

I can name one important person who almost certainly is not doing that.

I don’t know if I’m knowledgeable, and I don’t think I’m salivating, but the reason I bring it up, is that the pool of available guys is dwindling, and if the kind of guy the Tigers are after is some sort of reclamation or salvage, why not have a little fun with it?

Lots of off-season left, but the lack of activity is getting a bit concerning the division is ours for the taking, but somebody needs to hit the mall from the right side of the plate and a strikeout bullpen arm wouldn’t be a bad thing to have either rinse and repeat and reserving the right to say this again in two weeks

Because Scott Harris is trying to build a winner, not have fun with it? That would be my guess.

Erie will be in Richmond the week of May 13th.
Will Max Clark be with Erie then?

The floor is open…

Yes.  I think he’ll be there in April, with his ride or die, Kevin McG
