as someone who watches the white sox regularly, i can tell you this was my favorite season to see them.  in fact the ONLY disappointment in this year's viewing was not being able to hear hawk harrelson cry on air after every soul crushing defeat as his team inched inevitably toward historical infamy.

listening to their new punk announcer get pilloried all season for his fake enthusiasm and ridiculous homerism while steve stone twitched angrily next to him only slightly made up for it.

god bless the 2024 white sox.  may they repeat this season many many more times.🎉

Whenever Detroit played the white Sox I would watch the Chicago broadcast because I liked the Benetti and Stone combo and could barely tolerate Shep, Morris, Gibby and Monroe

I realize I’m on an island, but I have zero interest in Kim.  We need a stopgap for this season and his availability is uncertain.  Also pretty underwhelmed with his bat.

I think Kim could probably that stop gap for the next 2 seasons with the assumption that he’ll be not available to begin this season.  I think that’s fine given that someone that is assumed to be a part of the IF (or OF with Vierling going to the grass to cover that) is likely to be hurt at some point this season.  Essentially he’s an early season trade acquisition that can lengthen the lineup but won’t cost any prospect capital.  It’s just money and they can find a spot on the 26/40 for him.

Hard to say much about Kim without knowing the medicals - but agree the fit is certainly there the team can get some kind of assurance he's going to be 100% in reasonable time.

Would anyone trade a Tork+ package for Bo Bichette? (Plus being I'm not certain what else it would take)

OR: Alternatively... if anyone has an interest in Bo Bichette... what would you trade to land him...?

I’d prefer they try to rehab some worth of Torkelson.  That might mean he need to kill it as a Mud Hen and the return still won’t be reflective of what his potential was. That sucks.  But I don’t think trading him now is going to net much of anything at all anyway.  He’s not going to be a headliner for Bichette even if Toronto thinks they can fix him.

Yes, very true about the medicals.  I’m just going with what I’ve seen about him being available in May.  And by that assumption, I also assume he’ll be ready for IF duty as well.  Maybe wean him into it at first, maybe that means some rehab in the minors.  But if he can be ready around Memorial Day, who is the better 3B option currently on the team?  No question Bregman is the better player and I understand that’s who most folks want.  But if he signs elsewhere, how do the Tigers pivot?

Navigato - the surprise that nobody talks about.    But he's a Super Utility Guy more than an everyday SS, but don't sleep on this guy.      I would be more interested to see Navigato get a first chance than Kreidler getting a 5th chance.

Navigato was also untaken in the rule 5 draft.  Any team could have had him for free, and nobody drafted him.

I tend to agree with Kreidler.  It seemed a head scratcher to keep him on the 40.

I guess they still trust Kreidler's glove to fill-in in case of injury, but I think any hope the bat can play in the majors in other than emergency duty is gone. Haven't seen Navigato play but from what little I've seem about him the glove doesn't play at MLB SS. Concern about D at SS can only have increased with Gleyber penciled in at 2B.

Sweeney will get the majority of playing time at SS, and he looked very solid there.  Paired up with either Baez or Kreidler, and SS D will be fine.

I don’t think the Tigers would sign Kim for SS—they are trying to solve for 3B.  I don’t like his offensive production there.  Perhaps Plan B if they don’t sign Bregman?

Likely true about Kim at 3B for this year.  But he’s played SS as well, so who knows how Hinch would deploy him.  I wouldn’t think Vierling at 3B and Kim at SS vs RHPs would be surprising.

The other thing with Kim is that his next contract is probably shorter term to prove his wing is fixed.  If that’s true, than his contract isn’t likely to age into an albatross. The same cannot be said for what Bregman is likely to receive.  He’ll almost certainly be a shorter term contract at much lower salary and opportunity cost doesn’t get soaked up.  Sure, the Tigers have low payroll now.  But what about possible extensions due to Greene and Skubal?

As long as Kim isn’t blocking anyone, I’m down.  But he’s mostly useful for next season, and you’re probably only getting half.  I’d just assume Jung and Vierling platoon at 3B

Who would Kim be blocking in 2026?

To me, that’s less disappointing than going to the last three home games to see them break the record and they end up sweeping the Angels instead.

A contending team would not run Kreidler out there even in case of injury.

Just a reminder that Parker Meadows is the best CF is MLB;

“In the Parker” sure is, and this was such a fun, late night moment to experience live (for this ESTer who stayed up late for this game).

This catch saved the game. We were clinging to a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 8th, and this would’ve been a two-run bomb by Raleigh. Additionally, Benetti’s call was spectacular as usual (“he planted, he jumped, and he made himself into a poster!”). I can’t wait for more Parker Meadows OF thievery in 2025.

if we sign Bregman what is the starting lineup for next year opening day?

If they land Bregman someone will get moved  - probably for relief help. That will be two IFs added and only one removed - or at least likely removed (Torkelson). What would be fun is if they land Bregman and then Torkelson tears up ST and/or his 1st month at Toledo.  Not  likely but it would be a fun problem to have.

Wow...these's a card of his catch. Too cool...his late inning grand slam was huge too, I think that was against San Diego? Or Seattle...? I stayed up for both...and yes, a very late night for the East Coast.
