On the most recent podcast of ‘Days of Roar,’ Matt Vierling said that he drives a 2012 Ford Escape with 174,000 miles and has no intention of getting another car “until the wheels fall off.”

A man after my own heart.

As a kid at Tigers Stadium we'd go early and my brother and I would watch the Tigers drive their cars into an area of the stadium. Brookens drove an old pick-up truck and for some reason I liked him for that and his mustache, not his bat

One of the ramps up looked down on the tiny players parking lot.  I didn’t know who drove what but do remember being impressed with all of the nice rides.

Ndamukong Suh of the Lions drove a nice car that he hit some guy with (Exit ramp from Southfield to Rotunda) and then fled to the Lions practice facility where Lions security intervened and called the cops who then threatened to arrest the victim of the hit and run.    Of course, nothing ever happened to Suh.

I listened to the most recent Stavenhagen podcast today and part of the discussion was about where the Tigers infield is currently.
In summary, totally up in the air.
1st base will be Keith. No experience at all at the position according to Cody. The one consistent infielder last year will be changing positions?

SS-Sweeney. Minimal games at the big league level. Hoping he can hold the position without problems as he gains experience.

2nd base-Torres. Shooting for the offensive potential for an upside while realizing his defense is suspect. Personally, I’m not so sure what a Harris guy is if they’re willing to sign a guy with hustle issues. Impresses me as a guy that may show up some days and may have days he’s not all in. He’s playing for a contract so maybe it pays off.

3rd base-? Several possibilities. Jung should get the bulk of chances but who knows at this point. There are options as have been discussed here already.

Catcher-Jake and Dingler. Probably the only position on the infield you could consider stable.

The conversation was interesting but obviously highlighted reasons to be concerned with where we currently stand with only weeks between now and spring training.

I’m bullish on Torres—he signed a one-year prove it deal.  NY fans and press were rough on him and now he gets a fresh start.

I had to laugh - there was blurb on infielders on ESPNs web site and the clip they had of Torres was him booting an easy ground ball...🤷‍♀️

... How will you fill the hours?

This deserves an answer, so...

What are my retirement plans?

I am going to:

1)    Search the Galaxy for my soulmate. I may have even found her already… but relationships are always so fraught with peril so no guarantees can ever be given until two “I do’s” are heard from mine and my intended's lips. And we are nowhere near that point as we have met quite recently. The chemistry however, is extremely high.

2)    She is however, a Space Pirate Provocateur. Which you can imagine… has captured my imagination.

3)    So my retirement plan… is for the two of us to engage in Galactic Criminal activities.

4)    We will dance in front of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre.

5)    We will swim in that pool in front of the Taj Majal.

6)    We will have a “Flash Marriage” in the middle of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia.

7)    We understand that Interpol and the rest of the polizei will be very unhappy with us (“ARREST those TWO!!!”) But I have my eye on a really nice-looking getaway car so we should be fine.

8)    If no one is looking, we are going to steal a planet, or maybe a star… we haven’t decided yet.

9)    I have a secret mission planned (I’ve told her “a mission” but VERY LITTLE details so she is very intrigued by my mysterious and incessant surprises that I keep springing on her)… but it does involve white sand beaches and at least 9 sunsets on these beaches so she knows that much.

10) We will be secretly photographing the Canadien Rockies as we travel from the east of Canada, on “The Canadien Express” train to Vancouver. But… shhh… please don’t tell anyone about our secret photographs, we're trying to stay "under the radar".

11) We believe we have found a secret hideaway in a nebula at the edge of the universe but we can’t tell you where it is.

12) I will become known as Chrisik the Galactic Wanderer, famed Archaeologist and Captain Extraordinaire… but no, my head has not swollen to twice its size and even though I do not exactly match that description… it makes for a good story. Yes?

13) I can tell you where I have found Springtime sanctuary near Lakeland Florida where we have a pool (and we’d be pretty close to those white sand beaches for our secret mission…!) But not yet. Almost there…

14) I like Harry Potter

15) I told my sister I would visit her and her family often, in Merry Old England.

16) Did you know they have Harry Potter tours in the UK? In London and Edinburgh?

17) I smell a secret Wizarding Mission coming sometime soon. With my Space Pirate Provocateur Partner of course! I do already have my wand and wizarding gown but not my Owl. Hmmm... secret mission to FAU to capture my Ground Owl! Think anyone will get mad at me?

18) I spotted a Mayan epitour in the Yucatan where you get taught Mayan dishes, have to COOK Mayan… and there is still time to go hiking and look at nearby Mayan ruins in the Yucatan jungle. I am more than intrigued.

19) Also, a personal winery tour in Chile on the edge of the Andes is another surprise I am keeping in my back pocket. Maybe a Secret Mission up to Machu Picchu as well if no one is looking.

20) As well as a River Cruise down the Danube. Or maybe a Christmas Market Cruise down the Rhine? I can’t decide… probably both.

21) And I have ONLY just started with this list!

And if you think I am joking about any of this…

I.

Am.

Not.

You have no idea the unhinged Intergalactic Criminal that has been nefariously hiding on Motown Forums (and its predecessor) all these many years. But be forewarned: Chrisik the Inter-Galactic Wanderer has been UNLEASHED!!!

Yikes.  Lets hope the culture change really is a culture change in the Lions.

Yep.  that became the Tiger Plaza after Ilitch bought the team.  I remember yelling "Screw you Bo!" at Schembechler watching him walk in.

I live near the Lions facility and drive by quite a bit.  Nice cars.  But it's now the Meijer Performane Center.

If your car breaks down on Rotunda or the Southfield service drive next to the practice facility, Lions security will be out there checking on you to make sure you're not spying for the Vikings or Packers.   They'll get there a lot faster than a tow truck or police will.       It reminds me of Dominos Farms.   The Men In Black suits would materialize out of thin air to ask your business.  It was so freaking weird.    "I'm here for Monahan......."

i'm sure they also have to worry about the fantasy football freaks and gambling element.  Remember when Barry Sanders had a fellow who probably wasn't fully compos mentis threaten his life if he didn't post really big numbers.

Retired a while ago. Having more fun volunteering than I ever did working. The pay isn't great, but the rewards...

I started delivering food to people for a south side pantry here in Big Shoulders a little over a year and a half ago, and they liked me well enough to ask whether I wanted to join the board. I turned that down. I don't want to work in offices with meetings and strategies and making fundraising phone calls and stuff like that. I want to see the people, bring them food, exchange smiles and jokes and bon mots. That's the soul of volunteering. Let someone else do the administration part.

There's a good reason you didn't like him for his bat. 😁

Flip side, I never did see any claim that it was all going to be fixed by now.

I spent a bit of time riding with Forgotten Harvest. I enjoyed it, but my back gave out. Spent quite a bit of time at the info booths at DTW, a great insight into people.

Our Yankees fan and moderator on the site @smr-nj has some wonderful stories about being a young girl and taking the subway to the Bronx with her friends — when I guess being on the subway unattended by an adult was less unusual back in the day — and going to the Yankees parking lot and watching Mantle, Maris and the other players get into their fancy cars. Sounds magical.
