yeah, He was a steal which may be the most important reason they signed him.

This. To paraphrase - the best laid plans last until they get punched in the nose by a budget.

The other funny thing is that the Yankees didn't even want Gleyber to go to 1st, they asked him to try 3rd, but now he's out to prove to the world (read "NYC") he's a better 2B than Chisholm. That could work to the Tigers advantage if he can actually raise his game. Hopefully Chilsholm plays well. :classic_biggrin:

I almost hope Bregman signs with whomever tomorrow during the Super Bowl and the story is snowed under by its relative insignificance compared to the game. I’m tired of thinking about this guy.

What else are we going to think about at this time of year?  The best part of the Super Bowl is that it signals the end of football and the begining of baseball.

Of course, at the rate the NFL is going, soon Spring Training will be starting before the Super Bowl gets played.....:classic_dry:

If the Tigers go further into the playoffs if could be possible to catch a baseball, hockey, football and basketball game in Detroit in a weekend.  I have a friend who caught a hockey, football and basketball game on a Saturday and Sunday

But of course we have the NHL and NBA going almost into July. So people who think baseball is too boring or complicated will have something else to do.

I don't have time for people like that!

One of the home playoff games last year was the same night as red wings opening nignt. I think it was game 4.

Air was playing at the Fox that night.    I went to that concert.   It was pretty hoppin' down there.

I am stuck watching the Super Bowl today. If I stayed at home by myself I wouldn’t watch it, but my best friend invited me over and he does make good food so I’m going. Second year in a row. I’m not against football per se. It just doesn’t move me. There’s not enough meat on the bones for me.

We’re just another a society of group-bonding spectacles anyway, and I’m just doing my part to act normal even though my heart isn’t in it. If it were the Lions, I could piggyback off my affection for the Tigers and my concern for people I like whose happiness in this regard is important to me. But that’s not the case.

I'm going to meditate my consciousness into an alternate universe today where both the Eagles and Chiefs will lose. And there is always all-you-can-eat pad thai within arm's reach

Pad Thai?     Why do you hate America?    You need to eat AMERICAN food like Pizza and Nachos!

I live in Madrid, Spain and no one here cares about the Super Bowl. It is kind of refreshing not to have to pretend to care about the game. Now, yesterday's Real Madrid versus Athletico Madrid futbol match...that was something to care about here.

I hate the SuperBowl.  It's all commercials and singing and dancing.  Now, that nobody invites me to Patriots Super Bowl parties anymore, there is no reason to watch.  Getting millions of people to tune in specifically to watch commercials is one of the biggest scams in US history.

the paragraph that begins with: "We're just another society of group-bonding spectacles anyway, and I'm just doing my part to act normal..."

Was this a line from a John Hughes movie protagonist in 1983?

The pregame show started on Friday. But back to baseball...is Bregman going to Japan or something? I hope nobody signs the idiot. Unless it's us, then he's great. 😆

I agree on Bregman. I'm tired of him. I know it is a whole different world for them, but I don't understand holding out for the biggest contract possible when you are talking millions and millions of dollars. Just pick the team/city that would bring you the most joy and take however many millions they will give you. But that's just me...

I think the Bregman thing is a Willie Wonka-like test of the Detroit fan base by Scott Boras.  "Snozzberries, who ever heard of a Snozzberry?"

Some of you punks are going to have to go through some things before he signs.

The ascendancy of football over baseball as the nation's primary sports obsession generally parallels the general collapse of civility in American society. Just sayin'...........

That said, I'll be watching with some friends tonight....🤷‍♀️

I agree. What can a person do with 180 million that he couldn't do with 160 million? It's just part greed, part ego and part bragging rights. But it also makes him look like an as*hol*.
