True, but he walked about half as much as usual this last season while his K total stayed consistent. I wonder if he was less discriminating so he was walked about 40 times less than normal or pitchers stayed in the zone often enough that he knew he had to swing and take his chances.

A TV talking head said last night that Tiger fans shouldn't worry about Bregman turning into Javy because he makes contact, unlike Javy swinging wildly at sweeping sliders and missing them by a foot. They didn't show or say any stat to back that up, just not to worry. 😆

I don't know how much the type of hitter per se that matters - when you start losing vision and processing speed it's going to get harder. What I think matters more is how good you were at your peak - it's how much loss of function you can sustain and still be a positive contributor. If your career best is 230/290/400 you're likely cut if you fall off 10%. If you were capable of 310/380/570 you may have a number of years of moderate decline when someone will still want you on their team.

He definitely makes a lot of contact.  The question is whether players who make contact age better that those who don't.  If I had a lot of free time like I used to, I'd be all over that study.

I'll leave it to the politics thread for the reason, but sounds like you may soon!

Not quite sure I'm adding him to my MLB the Show team but...its promising.

Edit: By which I mean Bregman, not Alvin Garcia.

Other contract details

- 25% of two Illitch-owned parking garages

- Will receive a chartered flight for all road trips, separate from teammates and all airport traffic will hold until he clears the runway.

- Must be addressed as "Mr. Bregman" by all Tiger teammates

- Final approval of all lineups and managerial decisions

- All retired Tiger numbers will be un-retired and only his number can be retired through the year 2125

- 4 bronze statues of himself around the stadium

- Will be awarded the top 2 floors of the most expensive hotel in Detroit.

- Little Caesars' Crazy Bread to be re-named "Bregman Bread"

- Woodward Ave to be re-named "Bregman Blvd."

- His likeness to be mowed into the outfield grass. Any Tiger player that spits on his likeness will be sent to the minors

- Must always be the highest-paid third baseman in MLB, by at least $1 million dollars per year

- Will have chef-prepared meals prepared in front his locker and only he can eat that food, fed to him by rookies. Other Tigers who attempt to smell the food will be sent to the minors

- Will only play when he feels like it.

I guess the hold up all this time was the parking garages.   The Illitches will tear down other buildings and make more.

Yesterday Sports Illustrated reported that the Tigers had a four year $200 million offer to Bregman. I hope this isn’t an article that AI made up.

It does look rather AI-ish.

Tell you what: I’d rather sign Bregman for 4/200 than 7/200.
