romad1 Posted Thursday at 11:01 PM Posted Thursday at 11:01 PM I want both Bregman and Jung. I also hope we can keep Tork and he somehow becomes a consistent 30hr a year guy. I'm crazy that way. 2 Quote

My desired guarantee: I want to be able to turn on Jason Benetti and whichever athlete-turned analyst and be able to see a 60-40 odds of a win on a given night. I want them to win enough that they make the playoffs and defeat the Yankees (better that they lose than we win). Then I want to see them have a puncher's chance against the Dodgers or whichever NL team got lucky and beat the Dodgers. Almost every Tiger fan would or at least should desire this.............................. Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted Thursday at 11:42 PM Posted Thursday at 11:42 PM I feel like at this point it’s pretty obvious that Bregman doesn’t want to come here and that if he does settle with us, it’ll just be because we give him the most money. I think that he would actively hurt the morale and identity of the team that’s been built. Just roll with Vierling and Jung. Vierling has been an A+ guy to root for, and him playing 3B helps keep Wenceel in the regular lineup. 2 Quote

If the Tiger front office weren't signaling to the beat writers that they are optimistic about this I could agree with you. Quote
Tigermojo Posted Thursday at 11:55 PM Posted Thursday at 11:55 PM I enjoy Harris' strategy of signing vets to prove it one year deals and then flipping them for prospects. It's worked out great so far. Hopefully now it will shift to qualifying offers after helping the Tigers win. I'm fine if Bregman doesn't want to come here. It leaves more flexibility for Harris to be creative. Quote
Edman85 Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Sharing here... Because I think the Flaherty contract structure means the Tigers are planning on being at least luxury tax adjacent next year. 1 1 Quote

papalawrence Posted yesterday at 01:51 AM Posted yesterday at 01:51 AM I've seen a few interviews with Bregman over the years. He is a very confident guy. Feels he is the best player. I think the holdout is more about his wanting to top 200 mil. More an ego thing. Quote

I hope he falls flat on his face. 😆 Unless he's just waiting and was gonna come here all along? And then, welcome aboard!! 🤣🤣 Quote
Edman85 Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM Possible teams are waiting until 40 man roster spot can be cleared next week by the 60-Day IL next week. 1 Quote

Tiger337 Posted yesterday at 02:04 AM Posted yesterday at 02:04 AM I don't know why Bregman hasn't signed yet. I don't know which teams have offered what. I don't know how he feels about the Tigers. I hope they get him. 1 1 Quote
Hongbit Posted yesterday at 02:10 AM Posted yesterday at 02:10 AM I think it’s all Boras. He’s prepped Bregman this is all part of the process and ignore the noise and leave it to him to get the deal done. Quote

That part doesn’t bother me even a little. My issue is the idea of signing him to a six-year deal just so we can win this year. That’s what an organization would do out of desperation. I don’t think Harris is a desperate man. If we were to get Bregman, I would guess the terms would look similar to Flaherty and Alonso. I also totally get people’s concern about the potential of his effect on the clubhouse. I would guess that’s a consideration of our brain trust, too. Quote
Tenacious D Posted yesterday at 12:51 PM Posted yesterday at 12:51 PM Yes, it’s similar to giving Prince Fielder a 7-year deal because Victor Martinez injured his leg in the offseason and we needed to replace his bat. Quote

No argument from me on that. The question is, is he the best third baseman we can plug in for 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030 as well? And are the third base options we have in house for the next six years all demonstrably worse than what Bregman could bring us for the next six years? Is Jace Jung done here? As for second base, Gleyber Torres, despite his glove, has enough of a track record with the bat that he is projected to deliver three wins this year. Will that not be good enough? Would you rather have the guy without the glove or the track record remain at second and the guy who is playing himself out of the big leagues stay at first? I guess i just hate moving Keith off a premium position to first were it seems like you could find a Sean Casey/ Carlos Santana type to fill that position id rather they let Keith work on 2nd more then one season since hes on a long term deal .... and yes its only one season but we only have Skubal for 2 seasons and if they bomb this season it might be less .... id rather see them more Jace To first really he doesnt seem to have the Athleticism for the left side of infield... but i could be wrong 2 Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Keith would end up getting moved in a couple seasons for McGonigle anyway. Quote
