1776 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) My. take on this: I’m sure the agents and the union are in lockstep in holding the line on asking salaries. If one contract is signed for less than asking that can have a direct negative effect on another free agents market standing. One contract signing will have an influence, good or bad, depending, on other contracts. I believe some of these players would be willing to take less than their agents are asking but the agents and union know that to give an inch on one deal will impact future contracts in the future. Just sayin'........... That said, I'll be watching with some friends tonight....🤷♀️ Well, the Super Bowl is much better than a WSox-Seattle game that's 6-2 in the 6th inning. 😆😆 Quote

In a White Sox-Seattle game it means at least one of these two teams has to lose and to me that’s a plus because one way or the other I win by seeing one of them lose - which is great. I rarely feel like a winner at the end of a Super Bowl. As it is, I’ve lived in the Northwest for almost 40 years and I’m an elitist about my own team having a 124-year track record. So to me the Mariners are not a real team while my team was pretty much formed on the sixth day by God, as far as I’m concerned. As for the White Sox the enmity I feel for them does not need to be explained. Quote

The super bowl is like a yankees-red sox game on Sunday night baseball before pitch clocks. Everything takes 3x as long, and then you have to do "God Bless America " and "Sweet Caroline" times 100 for the halftime show. JUST PLAY THE DAMN GAME. I know, I know, everyone needs to make their money, but it is unwatchable to me. 1 1 Quote

Tigermojo Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I think Bregman will sign when they can place players on the 60 day IL and he's just using Detroit and Toronto to get as much money from Houston as possible. 1 Quote

Why lose a talented player if you don't have to. Now is that us or another one of the hopefuls? Quote

1776 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 With an unsettled infield, Whitfield may not be a bad option. He shouldn’t cost much and it would likely be a one year deal. He just turned 36 years of age. Quote

I was listening to the Tiger Territory from last week and they were talking about Miggy's extension in 2014 and how he was under contract until 2016 before that happened. I think we got the wrong end of that for the health of the team overall. Imagine a trade haul for Miggy during 2015/2016 and what that might have done for the franchise. But, Detroit fans love their stars or maybe we think we love our stars. Quote

IdahoBert Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Maybe deep down the Tigers don’t really want Bregman. Hinch did the right thing and had his devil‘s tail docked after the scandal. But but there’s a lot of sub-reddits where it’s discussed that Bregman never had his devil’s tail docked and since he doesn’t wear his socks high, the Tigers are worried it’ll stick out from under the hem of his pants when he gets excited and be a bad example for the rest of the team on the field and especially in the clubhouse.
