Flying to syracuse this morning and Jason Benetti is on my flight!  he's very polite.

He was doing Purdue/Marquette basketball last night.   The amount of miles he racks up in a year broadcasting 3 different sports must be ridiculous.

i told him "go tigers" and that we missed him in chicago.  he said "thank you."

were in "first class."  "first class" on a flight to syracuse is not exactly the posh surroindings one might imagine...

given his travel schedule he's probably triple platinum plus.  #milesenvy

I got bumped, for free, on a flight from DTW to Chicago and yeah... it was basically comfort plus.  Only time I've been upgraded.  We fly to Chicago now rather than drive.  By the time you factor in gas and parking fees... it was only like $100 more and that's worth the piece of mind.

Or enduring that 5 plus hour train ride.

Amtrak on the Eastern Corridor is so much better. Business Class is very reasonable, $10 a day parking in Richmond and maybe a 2 hour ride to DC. It beats putting up with congestion and crazy drivers on I-95

I'm not bothered HInch only finished third.  They were the 3rd wild card.  An 8 game improvement.  KC was the 2nd WC and had a 30 game improvement and Vogt's team won the division and they had a 16 game improvement.

It's not a travesty.

Vogt and Quatraro did not have to win using paper clips, rubber bands, and bubble gum like A.J. did. A.J. had to actually manage, and to an extremely significant degree.

also have to remember that for us in Det, trash can lids have receded far into the past, probably not so much for many people around the country when they think about Hinch.

I wasn't contemplating that part of it. Only the part where, other things being equal, Vogt and Quatraro deserve MoY over Hinch. They don't, because they didn't have to manage as meticulously as Hinch to win.

All that said, since humans with memories were involved in the voting, I would imagine any number of non-performance factors could have influenced his loss, including his past with the Astros, or his being a smarty-pants Stanford boy instead of a salt-of-the-earth Azusa Pacific or Old Dominion boy.

What Hinch/Fetter did the last two months was remarkable. In fact, it went beyond what I have seen Tigers management do in over 50 years following the team.  For whatever reasons though, I don't feel as if the team overperformed the first four months. I would have voted for Hinch, but the Indians and Royals improved more over 162 games than the Tigers did, so I can understand why the vote went how it did.

right.  You can make the case for Hinch.  And the others. Hinch wasn't robbed, thats my point. People online were acting like he was.

I just believe if the award were based strictly on field management ability, versus front office management ability like roster construction, Hinch should have won it handily. OMMV.

I would’ve preferred dropping one of Kreidler, Baddoo, or even Lange (sorry, not a fan of his lack of control) as opposed to Leonard.

I heard speculation on a pod that Leonard might not have made the cut because of his defense.  Ok, maybe.  On the other hand, what about these guys in terms of trade value.  Nobody’s going to bang down a door for Leonard, but I’ve got to think he’s got better trade value than Kreidler or Baddoo.

I think he can still remain in the organization.

Can a voter split a vote?  I suspect not, and so going with that, I wonder how many split votes might have been cast.  I think the rationale is there all 3 more along the lines of 1, 1A, 1B rather than 1, 2, 3.

He's out of options so not much roster flexibility. Kreidler and Baddoo each have one left.

I thought Kreidler and Baddoo were out of options?

I gotta be honest, I’d suck as a GM.

So, where do we meet to throw snowballs at children? 😉

Pat Benatar said hell is for children.  I don’t think the snowball thing will work there.
