Shinzaki Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Nashville is interesting...they could be looking at a full on rebuild. A guy like Ryan O'Reilley might be worth inquiring about as a top six F with some size and scoring. Two years left with a 4.5 mil cap hit Quote

Two years left with a 4.5 mil cap hit If Nashville is in a full scale rebuild why not go after the big fish and try to trade for Filip Forsberg instead of 35 year old O'Reilly. If Nashville is going to tare it down and rebuild then I would presume they want top prospects and picks for a top guy like Forsberg. Both of which we can offer them. According to Spotrac it looks like the Preds will be $21 million under the cap next season, so they have room to take on a bad contract or two as well. We have bad contracts to give them along with picks and prospects. Quote
Shinzaki Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Doubt we can afford to add Forsberg. O'Reilly would be cheaper low hanging fruit in terms of $$$ and the assets needed to get him Quote

Hongbit Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Forsberg is a solid player but he would be behind Raymond on the LW depth chart. A playoff team looking to take the next step may trade high picks and $8M+ on a 2nd line wing. Don’t think that’s the move for a team that’s been out of the playoffs in 9 years. Quote

I was under the impression we would have to shed a bad contract to get Forsberg and stay under the cap. It appears we could afford him without having to shed one of our bigger, awful contracts. So I was mistaken in thinking we'd have to shed a Chairot, Compher, Copp contract to afford Forsberg. I guess not. Nashville though would want a bad contract for the same reason San Jose wanted Wallman. You attach extra picks or a prospect in order for them to agree take on a bad contract. But given that we apparently don't need to clear cap space to afford Forsberg, that point is moot. I think a Forsberg deal I'd be comfortable with would look something like Forsberg for Danielson, Buium, a 1st and a 2nd. If it took a second 1st to get it done I might be ok with that. Is it a given that if we acquired Forsberg he would be behind Raymond on the depth chart? The guy did have 94 points a season ago. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Excited to see how Becher and MBN play together, Becher has been playing well lately. It is also interesting that both Lombardi and Finnie are playing center, I think they've both been spending time at wing. Hopefully my stream works when it comes to game time... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 ASP on Grand Rapid's first power play unit, looked good with his decision making. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 MBN on unit two, fumbled a play at the blue line, got a decent shot off of a Danielson pass. They had MBN in the sort of DeBrincat / Ovechkin-lite role and Danielson as the bumper. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 5 on 3 against GR after a dumb Austin Watson penalty. Wallinder and Tuomisto on defense, LOTS of length there. They use it well, though Wallinder didn't get the puck out a couple times when he shouldn't have. Cossa made a couple great saves to keep it 0-0. Wallinder seems to have a little mean streak to him, I know Johansson does too. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 (edited) 0-0, really fun period, if these teams play each other in the playoffs it should be a good match up. Overall I thought Finnie and Lombardi looked really good, Finnie is really intriguing. ASP looked great on the power play, at 5 on 5 he seems to work well with Buium though they did get hemmed in their own zone at one point. Cossa looked really good, made a couple saves with traffic in front of him and looked calm/composed. He even made a nice play on a puck that Rockford tried to ring around the boards, knocking it down with his stick. Danielson's hockey IQ is evident, he does a good job erasing plays coming on the backcheck. He had a couple nice passes on the power play, flubbed a 5 on 5 scoring chance. He's playing PK and PP as well as line 1 C. Tuomisto looks like an AHL guy to me, foot speed just isn't enough to make up for being out of position at times. Johansson looks pretty good carrying the puck, didn't notice him a lot. Wallinder seems like an adventure out there but more often than not gets the job done. MBN took a dumb penalty trying to do too much on a forecheck. He does seem to be looking for his shot a lot which I like. So far I would say it looks like ASP could play for the Wings next season no problem, he's very noticeable against AHL talent. I'll stop flooding the thread with my thoughts after this 😂 Edited April 19 by slothfacekilla 1 2 Quote
buddha Posted April 19 Posted April 19 so danielson has a lot of defensive ability, occasional offensive chops, very smart player but just isnt the offensive dynamo you want from a top line center... is nate danielson andrew copp? Quote

I think it is too early to pigeon hole him into a Copp like career despite not putting up gaudy offensive numbers (still better than Kasper last season!). He's handling all the 1C duties as a 20 year old in the AHL and doesn't look out of place anywhere to me. GR just gave up a goal and then threw his line out and he made a really nice rush carrying the puck through the neutral zone by himself, turning momentum around nicely. He skates way better than Copp and shows more creativity in my opinion. Maybe he turns into Copp but I think he's got more in him offensively. On Rockford's goal ASP definitely could have played the 2 on 1 situation better, but he was at the end of a shift plus odd man situation so I'll give him a pass. He just made a nice backcheck to erase a scoring chance at least. My stream is getting really choppy not sure how long it is going to hold on... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 LOL. Tuomisto just smoked a puck off of Knyzhov and into his own net. Cossa was flabbergasted, that was really funny on the replay. I said I'd stop flooding but that was too funny not to share. 1 Quote
lordstanley Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Believe it or not, Pat Caputo was talking about last night’s game. Weird to hear the Griffins and Cossa and ASP get mentions on 97.1 Quote
