Ha, got to ruin Dantonio’s day too. Keeps getting better and better.

  • Former Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio, the defensive coordinator of Ohio State’s 2002 national championship team, was honored in between the first and second quarters for his upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

On one side, in '69 it was Bo beating Woody in their first meeting and Woody was coming off the '68 National Championship.  On the other side, the '69 M team was coming in with only one conference loss. In pure football terms I think think this was the bigger upset, M was on the road and record differential was larger. But in terms of signalling something significant for the future, '69 was the bigger impact.

I my experience it's this one today because I was 4 in 1969 and don't remember it.

People will talk about this game 55 years from now like we talk about that one.

I was not at the game today, but I WAS as the '69 game - first college football game I had ever attended no less. It was one payoff for living with an older sister for 16 yrs :classic_laugh:

4th time this season we've thrown for under a 100 yards for the game, shockingly though we are 3-1 in those games. Also the high water mark for the season is 208 yards by a guy who retired from football a week later.

Kyle McCord who was essentially ran out of town by the Buckeyes is currently carving up and leading Syracuse over the number 5 ranked Hurricanes.

Imagine if Moore had gotten a real QB like McCord in the transfer portal.

There were so many quality to great ones this past year too unfortunately for us with how the portal timelines are we got screwed by going all the way which in turned delayed Harbaugh and JJ's decision. I think the initial portal ended 30 days after the regular season ended which was before we were finished. No good QB was gonna commit here without knowing for sure if the HC was returning and/or what the current star QB was gonna do.

By the time of the 2nd round of portals opened up in late spring most if not all of the good ones were gone. Still though you'd think there had to be somebody available then better than what we ended up with.

Gus Johnson got under my skin today. I liked him the last few years, but he sure seemed to have a crimson tint today.

Whether it was laying it on thick with the "world famous" schtick (though he's always done that), or not referencing the blatant OPIs (one of which was called DPI), or the voice crack as Warren threw his second pick, or the stupid references to cheating as the game ended, or calling Michigan disrespectful for the flag stake (which is done frequently).

I'll rewatch the game tonight and maybe it won't bother me as much, but it seemed like he was pretty upset to see a competitive game.

Oh no, you have every right to feel bothered. Gus painted on the excitement thick for OSU today. The cheating shade he threw at the end was unnecessary. If he was also over the top with his excitement for Ohio at points during this game.

I know Gus is a Detroiter and a big Michigan fan actually, I think he said the "we didn't cheat this time" line out of spite to the folks that would always say that was the reason Michigan won. Like I think his legit UM fandom came out there in the excitement.

Just like I think his voice crack on that inexplicable Warren interception in the end zone was a genuine fan/emotional reaction.

That was Ufer-esque, switching to another voice temporarily from excitement.

whatever.  teams have been "planting the flag" for years.  michigan did it two years ago without incident.  texas did it at michigan this year.

i find it annoying, but its almost to be expected now.

and instead of walking off the field and granting the winners their due, osu decided to attack them, take the flag and try to destroy it.

yet gus decides to take MICHIGAN to task.  maybe he thinks michigan should be above such petty activities and is upset that they would lower thenselves.  however, the fault in this instance is with ohio state.  maybe gus is a michigan gan trying to cover it up (he did go to my high school, go cubs!), but today he was annoying and very much in the bucknuts' pocket.

It the kind of preening the league should never have allowed to get started though. Players are exhausted and emotional at the end of a game and it's stupid to allow 'graceless winner' behavior that just increases the likelihood of 'poor loser' behavior.

It's honestly embarrassing for OSU. Like, now is when you take offense? NOW is when you take a proverbial stand?? They've been having their way with you for years, but not until now - after you lost a game you were expected to win by more than three scores - are you going to say "oh enough is enough" and put up a cowardly little fight at the middle of the field over a flag being proverbially planted?

Hit the showers guys. Maybe next year.
