The White Sox never did anything for me plus or minus that truly bothered me.

Bill Veeck was sort of joke with the Sox. With Veeck they always led the league in tacky. It's been easy to dislike them ever since.

Automatic ball strike calling in the international league as a test. It favors offense to an extreme degree.

Ohhh...yeah. I heard Madden has been doing better lately. Some of these young pitchers they've been calling up are doing better up here than they did in the minors.

The Sox downfall the past few seasons is extraordinary. I remember a couple years ago I along with many other people thought they were one of if not the best young and up and coming teams with guys like Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn, Giolito, Cease, Kopech among others. Just another example that growth from young players isn't guaranteed and sometimes they actually regress.

Which is probably the reason we haven't seen it yet. Of course, bring in ABS *AND* deaden the ball and you maybe get back the more balanced game we once had. But it won't happen. Today league management is too impatient. You can't make a change that will take a few years for everyone to adjust to even it it's the right thing to do.

Son Mike spent a minute or so as an "advisor" to the Tigers around 2001 or so. If I remember correctly they picked his brain on promotions.

Never a rabid Sox fan when we lived in Chicago during the 90s. My then 10 year old son's first MLB game was at Old Comiskey so he was a fan during the Frank Thomas years. I felt that I had failed as a father.

cease and kopech thriving once they got away from the dumpster fire.

vaughn is the definition of "meh" at first base.  unfortunately, vaughn might be tork's ceiling.

moncada, robert, and eloy are the definition of guys who couldnt care less.  moncada got paid and immediately went on the DL for three years.  robert is such a waste.  true five star talent who just cant be bothered to try.  eloy is just lazy and doesnt take anything seriously.

once abreu left it all fell apart.

I heard an ESPN talking head say players who use it are selfish because other players may need it. I guess teams only get a few per game?

I don't know if the number is absolute or if it renews if you win the challenge. But even a limited number will drive the umps to start calling closer to whatever ABS does than what they call now because they won't want to be shown up every game.
