Alright. It's not Green and it's Tyleik Williams DT from OSU. It's in the trenches and they needed a DT and got one. I'm not stoked about it, but I don't hate it either.

Detroit Lions: Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State – D Grade
I said we’d see some bizarre picks in the 20s, and here we go. Tyleik Williams was a mid-second-round prospect at best, so I don’t understand why Detroit drafted him at No. 28. This is a reach. It’s not an insane reach, but definitely a reach. There were definitely better options at this spot.

Agree.  The low grade makes me feel better about this pick.

Williams had 46 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He's a big guy at 6'3 and 329lbs. He's a space eater and a run stopper for sure. He'll likely require some interior double teams at times. It's a position of need for sure with McNeill out for a while.

theyre going to need defensive tackles after this year, so in that way it makes sense to get one.  the lions value run stuffers more than most teams in the league, so that males sense too.

like a couple years ago with gibbs and campbell, the lions like who they like and dont seem to care about traditional positional rankings.

and for the bpa crowd: the lions took a position of need in defensive tackle.  i assume he was one of the top players on their board, but this is a position of need.

The thing with the Gibbs pick was that no one really denied he was a talented player, it was a debate of taking a RB that high. This guy seems meh talent for the 1st round.

Former NFLer and radio host Jon Jansen on 97.1 likes the pick. He thinks Williams is a guy who will command a lot of double teams.

Martin has a place on this team as backup to Tyleik if he can get up to speed.

Not necessarily right now, but after Reader leaves he has an opening. It's not looking like he's going to get there though... at least not what he's shown so far...
