I'll wager Holmes trades those two picks to go up and get an early 4th or end of 3rd to go get another one of "his guys"... NOBODY wants to discuss Holmes late round draft strategy? Hmmmm.... I'm feeling like Shadeur Sanders all of a sudden... Edited 22 hours ago by 1984Echoes 1 Quote
CMRivdogs Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Plus he's really only played for his father. Way too many red flags there Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Lions have five picks remaining at 6.182, 6.196, 7.228, 7.230, and 7.244. I don't see five roster holes remaining for 6th round talents. They may try to package three of those to move back into the 5th round. Bradyn Swinson, Jack Sawyer, Fadil Diggs, and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins have the upside to compete with Davenport et al. for the starting edge role... I like Cam Skattebo as a potential Craig Reynolds replacement... Marcus Mbow is still there if they want to double dip on the offensive line... And I'm sure there are some guys they love who I have never heard of. 1 Quote

1984Echoes Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Training Camp thought: I think the "Dog Fight" in this year's training camp will be between Mahogany and Manu for the right to start at LG. I'm already assuming that Ratledge will win the RG spot and Glasgow will be 1st backup to the 3 interior spots. Quote
1984Echoes Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Just concluded conversation with my brother: Brother: "Did the Lions trade up again?" Me: "What? No, they haven't even started the..." "But BRAD HOLMES..." "DUDE!!! Have some PATIENCE!!!" Quote

Manu is more of a tackle prospect, and the extent to which they viewed him as a guard it was always RG, next to Sewell. I think it's possible they abandon trying to make him a guard with this pick now that they will have three starting-capable guards on the roster. Of course, all three seem to have more experience at RG than LG. Mahogany played 11 games at LG and 23 games at RG at Boston College; Glasgow was not good at LG last year after he was moved over from RG; and Ratledge started 37 games at RG in college. If I had to venture a guess before day three, the starting line will be Decker/Mahogany/Ragnow/Ratledge/Sewell, with Glasgow and Awosika as the backup IOLs and Manu and Skipper as backup OTs. If there is a competition, I would guess it's on Glasgow to try and replace one of the young bucks. Quote

Yeah, I have no actual idea of where he is as a guard... just that the team was talking him up there. I agree with you that the most likely outcome is Mahogany-Ragnow-Ratledge on the interior with Glasgow backup for all three and Manu comfortable residing in the backup tackle spot... 1 Quote

Why this man doesn't want to cook with more picks is beyond me. I get that they have an overcrowded roster but these are long term picks in the mid to late rounds, draft a bunch of guys and you're bound to find a diamond or two in the rough the way this regime drafts and if you do give up that much draft capital you better be sure this prospect is not only going to be a starter but an impact starter. Quite a leap of faith for a player that's going to be a #3WR at best for the next one or two years. I think he is successful because he drafts players he thinks are good. I also think having more picks in a round but not being able to draft the guys you like because those picks are later in the round than you can get that player is not very useful. If you only have a couple of guys you actually like but are 30 picks away then that pick is likely to be wasted. And in next year's 3rd round who knows if they will have someone they like as much as TeSlaa. What they do know is that they liked TeSlaa and he was available, so they went and got him. I respect the strategy as long as the guys making the picks are actually good at identifying talent. 1 1 Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Still gonna stick with my prediction that Sanders goes to the Dolphins in the 4th Quote

Yes, they're talented players that Brad brings in but they're also coached up to get the most out of their talents. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Onto the 5th round. Wouldn't be surprised to see Holmes move up in the next 10-15 picks. Probably not for Mel Kiper's #5 ranked player in the draft. Quote
