Even if it is/was an even trade based off the value charts I still don't agree with risking that kinda capital for essentially a high ceiling project. To me that type of return is for somebody like a Brian Branch type of player who inexplicably dropped in the draft.

Not watching the draft this year.   I don't find it all that intriguing when our team isn't trying to salvage their franchise and I think all the speculation is a bit silly since we'll have no idea how any of this really plays out until about 2028.    

But I guess Mel Kiper is absolutely freaking out over Shedeur Sanders' epic fall.     

I am not surprised.   He's not all that good and when you're not that good, but as arrogant as he apparently is, it's going to turn teams off.  It just is.     

But I don't understand how Mel Kiper is in the position he's in.   We complain about weathermen/weatherwomen being wrong and they have a MUCH better track record than Kiper.    Kiper is a clown.  He's a bigger B.S. artists than politicians and HR Directors.    Somehow he nerded his way onto TV 40 years ago and he's been wrong ever since.  Oh, yeah, he hits on a few.  Blind Squirrel meet Nut.   I just don't get how he stays in this position.  

From what I have been reading, Sanders' attitude is a mix of Ryan Leaf and his Dad.   Both of those players were better than Shedeur Sanders.    Kiper The Clown.

They gave up a lot of middle round picks that would probably struggle to make the roster. What's worse is the 49ers giving three 1sts for Trey Lance.

but that's the thing, he was really good at taking guys in the middle rounds.  stop trading away those picks that could end up being alim mcneil or amon ra.

To me it's not necessarily about what guys they could've potentially drafted in those slots, it's the fact that they have value which can come in handy if say we wanted to go trade for a veteran next season like we did Carlton Davis last year or if there is a guy that you love that drops next draft. That's just 2 less bullets you have to use to get said player(s).

But with the roster constructed the way it is now, which is pretty deep,  as Motown Bombers said 3rd/4th/5th round guys aren't really a need for them anymore, like they used to be.   Look, you can't take last year as an example of a lack of depth because they had a freakishly abnormal amount of injures, and they still held it together until the playoffs.   Guys they'd take in those middle rounds -  they already have those guys.   

They have their own way of measuring talent and it's served them very well.   

Let it marinate.    I don't think they're going to miss the guys that would have been available in those rounds.  There are specific reasons they moved up for these guys.    Just let it marinet.  Trust in Brad.

That draft Holmes nailed it not just with the picks but the trades. That was the last year Lance Newmark was with the team. Wonder what effect he had.

they've traded up to get guys in the 3rd.  multiple times.  and they are project guys, not guys who are going to help them now.

I'm not a fan of this trade, but I don't think losing mid round picks will hurt them. They have a loaded roster.

I don't think it's the players, it's the value that was traded for them.

Holmes looks throughout the draft and if he has conviction on a olayers he goes and gets him. That’s what makes him successful, not playing games with value. He’s not going to hit on every player, that’s not reasonable.

He's been a great drafter no doubt, but Levi, Paschal, Hooker, and Martin are examples where he underwhelmed or maybe got it wrong. Levi has been good now that he's healthy, but it took a while to get there. Paschal hasn't been anything special but he's been a decent rotational DL. Hooker and Martin were wasted picks IMO.

Jesus, the guy drafts All-Pros in the 3rd and 4th round and we complain about a 2nd round pick that took awhile to develop due to injury.
