This game underscores the need for a real right handed bat. You can't be serious and rely on Tork to provide anything next year. He might be a complementary guy, but that's it.

It’s time for whoever asked for and received a Tork bomb last night to do so again. Bases loaded, Tigers down 3, reliever coming in to face Torkelson

That would be me. Sorry…

I don’t want the White Sox to set the record. It diminishes our past accomplishments.

I would like to see the White Sox break the record, not because I hate the White Sox, particularly—they're just another opponent to me—but because if they can lose 120+, it makes it less likely people will remember our 119-loss 2003 team.

His defense isn't very impressive.

Interesting you say this. I had been wondering whether Harris had built a lefty-heavy roster for a reason. After all, most pitchers are right-handed, and our right field fences are a lot easier for a ball to clear than the left field fences, which makes getting a power-hitting RHH with agency on the market a real challenge. Who wants to come to Detroit to see their home run-hitting career tumble?

Then last night, I heard Dan Dickerson talk about how Harris and this front office have built this LHH-heavy roster with a purpose, going through the strategic niceties that it allows Hinch to work with during the games, and I thought, hey, maybe there's something to that.

And then, this morning, I saw this on FanGraphs:

And that convinced me: yup, we are LHH-heavy for a reason, and probably a good one.

I'm fine with it, as long as we have at least some counterbalance, and if Tork can somehow shake his blues, Vierling sticks around and rakes some, and we can get one more starboard-side guy with a stick—Malloy? Navigato? Bigbie? Someone from outside?—we could maybe be on the leading edge of something here.

I always hate when a longish winning streak ends.  You always wonder if they broke their mojo somehow.  Then i realize that stupid superstitions are stupid and I genuflect, spit three times over my left shoulder and remove the wristwatch I've been wearing since the streak began.

I get that, but on a personal level, I like being associated with Casey Stengel in one way or another, and I don’t like sharing that honor with the White Sox.

I’m grateful that I can start wearing clean socks again. Among other things.

the last three are against the white sox in detroit.  i hope the sox break the loss record because to avoid breaking it they'll likely have to win at least one of those games in detroit and i dont want them win another game against detroit.  ever.

We're stress testing a lot of young players. Sometimes it's going to be a struggle.

Hopefully lessons learned today bear fruit tomorrow.
