IdahoBert Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I was 32 in 1984, so I was basically older than almost everybody on the team except for Evans and Wilcox. And although nobody’s ever accused me of being athletic, I’m not doing half bad compared to these guys. 3 Quote

I was 32 years old and still with memories of 1968 and living in Tucson, Arizona. Six guys from Detroit - whom I had never met before they moved to Tucson - became my closest circle of friends and we shared that entire season together. As a kid, I was the only Tigers fan I knew. So being with a cluster of like-minded souls was a big deal. They were starry-eyed devotees just like me. Watching Jack’s no-hitter in the first week of the season on NBC’s game of the week made us all look at each other and wonder if this could be the year. And it was. When I think back on it, there was only 16 years between championship seasons. At the time, it seemed like forever. I was 8 years old in '68 and watched them but I really didn't get it. In 84, I was 24 years old and lived and died daily, depending if they won or lost. But man, it's been 40 years! 1 Quote

Crazy Cat Gentleman Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 (edited) 2-1! not sure who to give the credit to on that play except maybe the LF (edit: and Rafaela for the poor throw home). Edited August 31, 2024 by Crazy Cat Gentleman Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Why is Ryan Kreidler starting games? Why is he even here? Quote

When a great "send the runner" by Cora. Aggressivness is exciting. And what poor defense by the Red Sox. Quote
IdahoBert Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Oh wow, have Tram and Lou in the booth. Quote

Sports_Freak Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I remember watching Tram hit that grand slam off of Dan Quensenbery (sp?) Nobody hit that guy and it was totally unexpected. I'm not sure if it was in 84 or not. 2 Quote

gehringer_2 Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Direct TV is so screwed up. I come into the game a few minutes late so I start watching the in-progress recording. I'm cutting out time on the commercials and I reach real time. Switch back to the 'live' steam and it's a fulll 60 seconds *behind* where I was watching the recording. How is that even possible? IdahoBert Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I haven’t been to Chipotle in a while, but I just saw an ad for it on the mlb.tv feed and the guacamole looked really great. And I had no idea that they employed attractive models at Chipotle so that’s another reason to go there. 1 Quote

It's 2 pitches behind. At the end of a close game, I cheat and look at GameDay on the MLB app. 😁 Quote

IdahoBert Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I just thought we needed a double play and it happened. I wish I had thought I needed $1 million. That’s not being too greedy. It doesn’t go quite as far as it used to. 1 1 Quote
