Iran's security control of its eastern regions looking a little  sketch.

Quote

Iran Says 17-Hour Battle With Separatists Leaves 28 Dead in 2 Cities:

...

In January, the Islamic State staged an attack in Kerman, Iran, killing more than 100 people during a memorial for Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s top commander, who was assassinated in 2020 in a U.S. drone attack in Iraq.

Attacks by Israel in Iran, including on two major gas lines; its strikes against targets in Syria affiliated with Iran; a string of terrorist assaults in Iran; and the prospect of a confrontation with Israel have created panic and anxiety in Iran. The price of Iran’s currency, the rial, has plunged daily against the dollar this week, at its lowest reaching 640,000 against one dollar.

Shahin Modarres, an analyst in Rome who specializes in Iran’s security for an Italian research institution, said of the Jaish al-Adl militants, “Their adeptness indicates a deep understanding of local military and critical infrastructure, posing a significant challenge for Iranian authorities.”

“The timing is also quite significant,” he said, referring to Iran, “because they are under direct attack from Israel and, at the same time, their intelligence system is heavily compromised as the recent terrorist attacks have shown.”

It’s interesting to me how Britain uses red for labour and blue for conservatives, which kind of makes more sense, since red is associated with socialism and communism, which is closer to labour than to conservative.

Tory party PM Sunak called a General Election for UK on July 4th.   The last Tory leader to call a July General Election was Winston Churchill in 1945 and that ended badly for him.

Maybe by calling the elections for July 4th, Sunak figures he can goose turnout among conservatives who are still sore about Lord Shelburne and those commie Whigs capitulating to those criminal rebels and bailing on America.

Bold for a guy who clearly has ancestry among the British empire and dominions to be playing that card.

India has elections today (yesterday)...the number of votes is tremendous.   Not sure about anything in Indian politics except the Hindi nationalists are a bit too dominant (and obnoxious) and they don't seem to have the will to deal with their environmental problems.

Of course I got here because umichvoter is following the election.  I've always been fascinated by the NE Indian and other pockets of Christianity in India.  Sikhs are also really an interesting minority.

BJP looks to not secure a majority?   that's a shock.

In what I guess one could call irony, the Persian Gulf, which first put fossil fuel in the world's automobiles, is becoming the first place to be uninhabitable by Homo Sapiens. It's estimated that heat killed 1300 people at this year's Hadj

Quote

But in the last few decades, Persian Gulf countries have warmed almost twice as fast as the global average, and more than many other parts of the world. The highest heat index recorded last summer was about 5°F higher than the peak value between 1979 and 1998, researchers at Harvard University estimate.

Big defeat for Brit Tories. Labour projected to take a 170 seat majority in the House of Commons.

I'll take the over on Britain being back in the EU before the Tories win another national election.

With America set to go fascist, Britain’s going to need to go back.
